Equip the part you want to "glitch into" a gun to a gun that it can be equipped to NORMALLY, for example, stick a 100-round magazine in an LMG. Save changes, navigate to the gun you want to glitch, and left-click twice on a locked option, for example "stock" if you're doing it with a handgun. It can't have "none" in it, either. Now the first part (100 round mag) should be equipped into the second gun. Save changes, you're done.

The entire glitch is caused by the game not handling LEFT-CLICK menu interaction correctly, this will not work if you navigate the menu using enter or spacebar.

Lethality is governed by the gun (so a tranq rifle with a 100-round LMG mag will still be nonlethal) but bullet type is governed by the magazine (so a grenade or rocket launcher with a 100-round LMG mag will be a really shitty machine gun and not a full-auto rocket launcher)

    _______________________________________________________________________________________________

Find gun you want to mod, this is gun A

Find part you want, off of gun B

Go into gun B and get the part you want, say barrel, attach it to gun, move down to okay and save it

Go to gun A, select either a catagory such as stock or barrel where there's no other choice, and double click, this will put the barrel onto a shotgun or pistol.

As long as a weapon has an option for no object such as stock, you can place things into the stock but it will replace the correct thing, such as slipping a 100 round magazine into an assult rifle that takes different types of mags/ammo

Quoting someone from a different forum. I have yet to try it my self, but this could be pretty fun to mess with. @jeff More reason to start that PC play-through.

Sadly(well specifically in this case) Konami is oddly quick in patching bugs that become well known with this game so I bet this is gone in a week or two.

@xel: Bahaha oh geez. I don't know what to make of this. I've been trying to avoid playing for a few days. I really put to much time in to the game last week. but I have to know what this does.

I saw this happen on a Twitch stream, but was unaware it was a glitch. Dude was using silent grenade launchers, and LMG-clip-size revolvers.

Also, what's this about weapons customization? I haven't been able to find it; all I see is the R&D branched menu.

The only thing I have used this for is putting a silencer on my non-lethal assault rifle. So happy that I can use it without alerting everyone in a ten mile radius now.

@sgtsphynx: Thankfully you can put a suppressor on the UN-ARC NL once you level up your teams enough. It's not until the early 50's though.

    @Mike: That pistol sounds incredible.

I hope they neglect patching this 'feature', I just realized you can't set steam to not update games. You can tell it not too until launch but that seems to be it. Have to launch in offline mode I guess. I am sure modders would figure out a way to do this anyway, just this is already in the game and easy.

You can do really dumb things with this; someone found out that you can have a silenced rocket launcher with 100 rockets in each clip, or if you use the Karbanga auto shotgun as a base, it fires out five at once.

If they don't patch this, FOB invasions are going to get real interesting.

Steam patched before I went to try this. Wonder if they patched it already. I can't see my cursor while trying to do this. Don't think I could ever. With Ground Zeroes and this I just get the spinning circle cursor, or nothing at all.

@mirado: FOB stuff is already completely broken because the trainers that work in single player also work exactly the same in FOB mode. Stuff like infinite health or causing all enemies to fall asleep with the press of a button is already a thing. As is save file editing where people are changing all of their soldiers into rank S++.

At this point, I just hope that MGO isn't this broken when it finally comes out. I doubt any of this stuff is ever going to get patched.

@Mike: Yeah, FOBs are a bit of a mess right now, although even godmode doesn't save you from stun or sleep attacks, which I've used to fulton a hacker before. The guard editing is less of a problem as I much prefer defense to attack anyway; you get tons of GMP and resources for defending other people, so much so that I recently pulled in 1.2M GMP off of one defense.

With that being said, I hope to hell that MGO doesn't use peer-to-peer infrastructure or decides not to implement VAC, as that's how these games wind up in this kind of a mess.

I wonder if that explains how when I went to defend an ally's FOB, I kept getting hit by something, without any damage indicator showing which direction it came from. I figured maybe it was just a difference between SP and PVP (much like I imagine reflex mode won't work against another player). Or maybe that WAS the case, and I just suck at spotting snipers.

Sadly this isn't as useful as you would hope. Just tried it and found out that when using my fake-suppressed NL rifle supply drops don't drop new suppressors. So you only ever get one use out of it. Bit of a bummer.

@bollard: Don't worry, eventually you get a real suppressed stun rifle. Got mine last night, I believe it was R&D and Intel at level 53. Don't quote me on that Intel part, though...it could have been a different unit.

Man, all the underbarrel options have 'none' as an option. Too bad, I wanted to put grenade launchers on everything.

Oh well, at least my tranq rifle has 100 rounds per box and I made a silent grenade launcher. That's dumb enough.

Thanks to this thread, my grenade launcher now operates as a hitscan weapon with a capacity of three hundred death bullets.

Yeah, so, I made a hitscan suppressed rocket launcher that acts essentially as a rail gun. I don't know if the rounds have splash damage, but they can sure as fuck kill a gunship.

If someone makes a mod to put anything on any weapon, I'm not sure I'd ever stop playing.

@bollard: It's not exactly hitscan, but pretty close. The magazine overrides the "proper" ammo for the gun, so the rocket launcher essentially fires machine gun bullets with the power of a rocket. I haven't noticed splash damage since I've only used it against gunships, but I saw a video and the guy had to hit a guard with a round to kill him.

Basically, instead of a slow rocket, you get a real fast bullet so it's nearly hitscan. But tranq guns will still put people to sleep, damage guns will still damage, etc.

Edit: The super bullet will still also annihilate destructible objects as usual though.

@bollard: Pretty much, yeah. I slapped an LMG box on it with 200 rounds and three boxes total, so that's 600 bullets with the stopping power of a rocket without the splash damage collateral.

Tried to put tranq rounds on a lethal sniper to keep the penetrating so i could shoot through face masks, but i guess the penetrating stat is from the ammo. :-(

Sadly, thanks to the Oct 6 patch. This has now been fully patched and can no longer be done. This makes me sad, because I only just got to unlock weapon customization the day before and did not get to have fun with the silly system.
