The final main entry in the Metal Gear Solid series bridges the events between Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and the original Metal Gear, as Big Boss wakes up from a nine-year coma in 1984 to rebuild his mercenary paradise.
I still have access to and able to research upgraded weapons and items that will help me get through the entire game even if I'm invaded a ton right? Doesn't seem like too much of a hindrance getting through all the game's chapters.
I have an issue with this thread as it seems to imply that "you're playing the game wrong, play it my way or your stupid". Just because people enjoy micromanagement doesn't mean its a waste of time. You like your Call of Dutys, some people like their Civilization games. The "you can just got out and get more stuff" argument isn't fair for people with limited playtime.
That wasn't my intention, sorry if it came off that way. It was more like "Micromanagement isn't required for your base to move along at a good clip." If you LIKE doing that, that's totally fine. But unlike Peace Walker, you're not half forced to manually assign every soldier. It would be madness if you were - I've gathered over 5,000 soldiers total so far! An ocean to PW's puddle.
Also you get tons of soldiers and materials any time you play, or at least you should.
@Mike: You've definitely changed my opinion on it simply by actually explaining how stuff works. I'm still not interested in the PvP bit of it (never cared for it in Dark Souls) but knowing the direct contract stuff makes the rest of it not matter as much for me.
Also yeah, you can get tons of amazing people later on so it's not that big of a deal. I think I cleared mission...30? by fultoning every living person in the outpost and got like 30 A++ guys and 20 A+ from a combination of extract and volunteer. It was insane.
Also it was helped by a minor scripting bug, in that the area was 'alerted' to a sniper, but everyone around this one mortar was gone and a single person would run out from the back of the area to try and get on it, who I would then CQC and fulton. It kept happening, since the 'mortar strike' wasn't ever complete, dudes would keep running to it one at a time.
I screwed it up by shooting a light near the mortar and the guys in the back of the area magically knew where I was and mortared my area and completed the strike, but after that there were only like 6 dudes left in the entire zone.
I own a PS4, and have done for a year or so. I love story driven games, but have no interest in multiplayer, I only actually upgraded to PS Plus last month so I could play the odd game of Fifa with my brother. I have completed TLOUR a couple of times now, but never one bothered with online. Same with Far Cry 4, I literally have no interest in competing with anyone, for anything, at any time, I play to relax. Games like The Division for instance quite literally have zero appeal to me, so this FOB shit is really annoying to me, it's the first time I actually feel like not bothering to continue playing through the game. It's clearly about making money, because I know I am not alone in not wanting anything to do with this kind of thing. At the moment I am weighing up on whether to delete my game file and starting from scratch (off-line), or deleting it and trading the game in for something else. Fallout 4 maybe.
its not fair when someone 1000% better than you and more equipped than you is allowed to come into your base and desimate everything and you are too powerless to retaliate
