Poll Would you play a kojima-less metal gear? (466 votes)

    Yes 52%
    No 35%
Only if it got the ok from kojima 13%

SO. seeing as longtime metal gear creator and director hideo kojima is out of the picture, would anybody play another metal gear, with a new creative head? Personally, i wouldnt, but if it got kojimas approval (which considering how relations between the company and kojima goes, is highly unlikely), i might change my tune.

No because there nothing left to tell from that universe. Every part of the Big Boss/Solid Snake saga have been told. What else could they do with it story wise?

A new character, perhaps mentored by Old Snake. That's what I wanted after 4. I didn't want two more prequels.

A Metal Gear without Kojima simply isn't a Metal Gear. It's as simple as that.

Even though Ghost Babel and Revengeance are good games, they're not Metal Gear games.

    P.S.

The added question should be: Would you play a Metal Gear which isn't made by Kojima, published by Konami?

To which everyone's answer should be "No." #Fuckonami

Yeah, that'll show 'em. Just like how we didn't buy V.

At first I was "no way", but then I realize that I have no idea what a Kojima Metal Gear game is any more.

Thematically, aesthetically or even gameplay-wise, there is very little overlap between Ground Zero, Portable Ops and MGS 5 with MGS 1, 2, 3 or even 4... We could all have played some Kojimaless-MGS games and didn't even realize it.

Metal gear without the kojima quirk would be super dull. Unless they got somebody equally quirky to direct it, then probably not.

Plus I'm not sure i'll ever support another Konami product again anyway.

    Is it fun?

    If yes, then yes.

    If no, then no.

Kojima definitely left an indelible mark on the franchise as its creator and lead over the years, but he isn't the only talented person who could helm the franchise. It won't be the same by any means, but that isn't to say it wouldn't be good, maybe even better, who knows. The real question I think is would I play a as-it-stands Konami Metal Gear game, which is more problematic given the way they have treated their employees. I would have a hard time justifying continued support for a company that has shown a complete lack of respect for its employees, Kojima and beyond.

    Dead on

A game has to be pretty damn offensive for me to say from the get go "I will not play this".

More likely that I won't play it because of what Konami has become, but hell, who am I kidding... I'll probably wind up playing it anyway.

I'd love Konami to secretly harbour another nutter auteur.

If it's a good game, sure. I'm starting to care less and less about the background stuff and politics of game development. Just give me fun shit.
