Cyborg Ninja-MGS1
Metal Gear
Tactical, Espionage, Action. A revered and long-running series directed by Hideo Kojima.
Favorite boss battle in MGS?
I liked the one in MGS1 where the guy had that huge turret and you had to set C4 everywhere. That was fun. :)
"I liked the one in MGS1 where the guy had that huge turret and you had to set C4 everywhere. That was fun. :)"Vulcan Raven was his name.
"Psycho Mantis, Liquid's hand to hand fight, Sniper Wolf Cyborg Ninja(MGS1)
Vamp, Solidus sword fight(MGS2)
The End, The Boss(MGS3)
Really none MGS4.
Overall, a tie between The Boss and Psycho Mantis I'd say.
"
Really, you didn't like Laughing Octopus or Liquid's hand to hand fight?
"The EndI agree. I played through it and it took me hours. But I didn't cheat with the PS2 system clock, good ole fashioned hard work! I mean I really was not a fan while doing it, but to this day, it rates in my top 5 boss fights ever!
As frustrating as it was.
Oh and the Metal Gear battle in MGS4 was brilliant."
The Rex vs Ray fight in MGS4 was fucking mindblowing, so that. Some of my other, lesser favorites were Solid Snake vs Psycho Mantis (MGS1), Raiden vs Solidus (MGS2), and Naked Snake vs The Boss (MGS3)
Psycho Mantis - MGS1
Fat Man - MGS2
The End, The Boss - MGS3
Liquid Ocelot, Rex/Ray - MGS4
Overall: The Boss
Hmm thats a hard question to answer, there are so many awesome fights. I remember vulcan raven scaring the hell out of me when he started running around. Cyborg ninja was badass. The End was epic, most unique fight ever. The Boss fight , holy crap artistic perfection. The Ocelot fight at the end of MGS4 probably is my favorite though, just because by that time you prett much know all the backstory and what the fight means, and then it ends with the revelation that there never was a REAL liquid Ocelot.
I don't understand how the end took anyone "hours"? I mean I didn't cheat or anything either and I beat it in like 20 minutes. Still was epic though.
Probably the End or the Liquid/Snake fight in MGS4. The fight with the Boss was pretty awesome because of where you fight, and because of Snake Eater playing in the background at the 5ish minute mark, but the fight itself didn't really do justice to how accomplished of fighters they were. All the CQC cutscene battles between them that occurred earlier in the game just ended up overshadowing their final fight.
Sticking to the Boss, and its bloody hard too going for the non lethal kill. I also loved fighting the fury. In MGS4, its not really a boss battle but the Raiden and Vamp Fight looks awesome if you manage to watch it.
Metal Gear Solid - Psycho Mantis
Sons of Liberty - Solidus
Snake Eater - The End
Guns of the Patriots - Laughing Octopus/Crying Wolf
And then, if you want to get real in depth:
Metal Gear - Big Boss
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake - Predator/Gray Fox
Portable Ops - Gene
AC!D - Vince
AC!D2 - Metal Gear
Ghost Babel - Marionette Owl
Yeah. Why do people like The Boss' boss battle so much? I respect her as a character - she is one of my favorites - but it is not the best in the series, nor is it the best in Snake Eater. Psycho Mantis' boss fight is memorable and notable in that everybody knows about it. Technically, The End was outstanding - but the best emotionally, and story wise? Sons of Liberty was and still is my favorite, and I did like me some Solidus. He gets my vote.
I enjoyed battling the urge to scream every time a cut scene crept past the twenty minute mark in 4. I kid, I kid!
I loved the concept behind The End, but the actual fight wasn't nearly as cool.
"Psycho Mantis has to be the best boss battle in video game history. It may seem just slightly interesting now, but at the time, it was a very big deal.""Has to be the best in history" is kind of a borderline authoritarian statement. That fight had a few cool gimmicks (maybe you could call them motifs) but I don't think it's really had an influence on much since.
The End might have been the most daring idea for a boss fight in the series - most designers wouldn't run the risk of a boss fight being boring (although it didn't really turn out to be).
But I think I'd settle on the Harrier. It can kick your ass really easily, but if you know what you're doing you can get through without a scratch.
I have to go with the final boss battle of the entire Solid series. Liquid, Ocelot and Snake. I started playing Metal Gear games in the 80's. Then the rivalry between Liquid, Ocelot, and Solid started. That final fight was something I had been wanting for many, many years!
Finally getting my hands on Liquid and Ocelot... AT THE SAME FRIGGIN TIME! I loved it! Favorite boss battle ever, out of every game I have ever played. I have never been a part of any other fight, that was so built up. So desired, and so damn great from every view point.
It went so far beyond what I had been craving for all those years. It was pure perfection. That I will never forget.
