Mickey Mouse is a cartoon character created by world-famous animator Walt Disney, in collaboration with his friend and business partner Ub Iwerks. Mickey was created to replace the earlier character of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, who Disney's team did not control the rights to. With Mickey, Disney held onto the copyright and the intellectual property rights, so was able to spin the character out into a successful franchise.

In fact, Mickey Mouse is one of the most successful franchises of the 20th century. Aside from appearing in the first commercial successful "animated talkie", Mickey has been seen in dozens of other cartoons, numerous books, appeared in all of Disney's Resort locations and has been merchandised extensively. Mickey has appeared as everything from a cuddly toy to a wristwatch.

As part of the line of Mickey Mouse merchandise, DIsney have released a number of different Mickey-themed games, ranging from role-playing games to classic side-scrolling platformers.
