    Overview

    Prior to the formation of the company's Microsoft Games (later Xbox Game Studios) division in March 2000, Microsoft Corporation handled game publishing themselves (which were sold similar to their other published software), often through a small internal "Games Group" team.

    Microsoft also developed some smaller games in-house, which were included either in multiple versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system or as part of the Microsoft Entertainment Pack collections.

    Several games in the mid-1990's were released under the company's "Microsoft Home" brand.
