Overview
MiG-29 Fighter Pilot is a polygonal military flight sim released exclusively on the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive in Europe (where it debuted), North America, and Japan. Domark published the game and co-developed it along with internal studio The Kremlin (which is credited on the title screen for art), and external contractors PanelComp (credited for coding) and Tiertex (credited for music). It follows a similar game from Domark that focused on the same Russian aircraft: MiG-29 Fulcrum from 1990.
The goal of the game is to complete a series of military missions with the MiG-29 jet fighter, the player's score in said missions eventually unlocking the later, harder ones if it's high enough. As a heavy sim, the player has a selection of weapons and tactics to choose from via dropdown menus while in flight.
Critical Reception
Electronic Gaming Monthly's Mike Weigand gave the game a review score of 6 out of ten. He wrote, "...choppy, choppy, choppy! It is like watching a flight simulator movie with every other frame on the film stock missing".
