I don't know if any of you follow the Escapists March Mayhem at all, but this year they included Mojang AB as their 16th seed. It shocked a lot of people when they beat out Nintendo in the first round, Namco Bandai in the second, Epic Games in the third and Obsidian in the last round, but now they are up against Valve. Its a close battle and now Mojang AB is only around 500 votes behind. no ... I have all respect for them, but still: the state of Minecraft is rediclious in parts. it takes them ages to fix stuff oder add new stuff. Im happy minecraft is successfull, I hope it will continue to be but they are not even close to a "good" let even the "best" developer.

No, I will not get over myself, I am just stating fact, wherever you go you're going to get imbeciles who know nothing of the subject matter and will still talk bollocks. If they added some sort of detail to their post instead of just talking down of Mojang then it would be different. "

Maybe when they can actually ship a game, they will. But they've developed a beta game, and it's fun, but by no means are they a good developer.  
 
Plus the game's only as fun as you make it, and it's pretty unplayable without mods. 

Very few updates, broken logic in some block types, terrible optimization, not to mention it's still in beta phase. Just because he created a social phonomonon doesn't make him a God, let alone developer of the year.

They don't deserve developer of the year, for one reason: They already lost customers with their first game. As in, there's people out there that won't even want to try their new games, because they even haven't finished this yet, and Notch goes on vacation more than he ever moves a finger. And instead of addressing issues, they add more things, and more things. They put the game in beta state with an update that meant nothing for the game to gain such title. They could even say it is now finished.

Mojang gets points for getting people to pay 15$ for an incomplete JAVA app. I would rather see valve win for the steam platform alone.

It's like this. You are a fan. You are not taking actual developers who've done a great lot of work for the industry and not just for you the gamer into account. You are a blind fan. You are appreciated for making Minecraft so big, but leave this to actual developers.
 
Which hopefully, is nothing Activision or Blizzard this time around. Valve's done amazing things, but they've essentially been behind the scenes, things we don't see. Need to know more about what's behind the scenes of the current era EA and Ubi.

I just dont "get" minecraft.

Oh wow, minecraft sure has a legion of fanboys, no doubt about it, the amount of work a company like Valve or Bioware put into their games, which btw are actual games with stories and objectives, can in no way be compared with making something like minecraft, it's a neat little toy, but enough is enough.

according to that chart, valve doesn't have an opponent yet between relic and I forgot the other one. Don't jump the gun
