Notch has tweeted to say that Minecraft’s 1.4 update will be landing very soon. “The plan is to release 1.4 this week.” he says, “stats and achievements require more work than expected.” Notch also updated his blog to say that the update will add wolves, and the ability to change your spawn point. Notch recently put out a video of the new wolves. They’re adorable.

As for plans beyond the 1.4 update, Notch says the team will be working on community creation tools. “Once that update is out, we’ll spend some time figuring out exactly what to do with the modding, which should result in a nice modding API.”

This. Sounds. Awesome. Maybe I can finally play Minecraft like I used to. I love the game, but "investing" time on it without any final purpose when I could be playing something else from my backlog always held me back from actually playing it. Also, changing your spawn point = awesome.

Change spawn point is probably the only thing that I care much about in this patch.

Same, achievements are always cool for a few days, but then you forget they're there.

thanks for the update, i'l have to load up Minecraft when this launches. Really curious as to what modders do with Minecraft though. With enough people jumping on it i'm sure there's a lot of cool stuff that could come from it.

Meh, nothing game changing at all, the kind of thing you check out, mess around for a couple of minutes and quickly lose interest.

My only hope for minecraft is the modding community, once Notch adds official modding support I'm sure they'll release some nice stuff, Notch himself lost all interest in developing it it seems.

I don't care though, got my 13 bucks worth out of it.

Indeed. Beds only allowed you to end the night cycle. Never enabled you to move the spawn zone.

I can't wait to change my spawn. Mine is no where close to where I have anything built.
