It seems to be, now Q1 2010 has too many releases.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Game » consists of 22 releases. Released Nov 10, 2009
The sequel to 2007’s wildly successful first-person-shooter Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 continues the story of American and British soldiers fighting Russian ultra-nationalist forces.
Is Modern Warfare 2 Scaring off Competition into 2010?
I don't think so. Red Steel 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction were probably going to be delayed anyways just by the look of it and BioShock 2 would hold its own against Modern Warfare 2.

As anyone ever considered that people might be tired of Halo? Its about as generic as space-related games with space marines get. I will admit Halo 3 was a great game and I played a lot of it with my friends, Call of Duty is going in new direction that lots of games have done, just not as well as Call of Duty has been doing it.
I know I will be crucified for this, but even the multiplayer in CoD4 was much better than Halo.
" @killdave: While Halo 3 was successful game it still can not compete with Call of Duty 4 when released. One is a platform exclusive while the other is a muti-platform game and as such would sell more overtime. Plus Modern Warfare 2 is one of Activision's main staples this season as therefore it would be highly unlikly that Activision would allow the game to be delayed. "
Is Modern Warfare 2 Scaring off Competition into 2010?
Answer = no, not with games like ODST giving it a run for its money

Secondly CoD has been on consoles more than on PC ... amazing eh? (think about call of duty 1 renamed as finest hour and call of duty 2/3 remade many more times as different titles)

So says you .. why don't you get some facts to back it up like I did for my arguements. or would you like me to go off and find out that more people actually play it on consoles now ?
ODST is being released in September, and Modern Warfare 2 is being released in November. Don't figure ODST is still going to be flying off them shelves by the time Modern Warfare 2 is released. Therefore, ODST isn't "scaring" (video games scare each other, good idea) Modern Warfare 2. I believe Call of Duty has been released in November the past few years, so there is another reason why they are a few months apart. It'd be silly for them to release it before the insane shopping period (Black Friday and Christmas, respectively). Sales or statistics shouldn't play into the factor of a game's quality, and just because you think one is better than the other, doesn't mean the gaming community agrees with you." @Captain9099 said:

By the way, everyone attempting to factor in their opinions on both respective games into their arguments aren't helping them at all. Great, you think the Halo franchise is better than the Call of Duty franchise, or vice-versa. Keep your opinions out of this argument that is already out of hand. Considering the main point of this topic was completely missed.
To answer the original topic question: very unlikely. Some games you could tell just needed extra developmental time, and some games you just simply expected to get delayed. With the developmental schedule of Splinter Cell: Conviction, for example, it wasn't even a shock to see it get delayed. Delays sometimes help games in their overall quality, and I hope it helps one game, for example, Red Steel 2.
" @Br3adfan said:You really think that ODST is going to be that big? Its a second rate Halo game, they are nearly destroying all the assets that made the Halo Trilogy a exciting gaming experience and replacing it with a new character we know nothing about. Of course Halo fanboys everywhere will buy it (like you) but that doesn't mean its a better game. It just means the audience that follows it are pawns in a marketing scheme and are too blind to realize it." @killdave said:seriously are you blind or just plain ignorant ? " @killdave: Your facts sir are just wrong. Your are only comparing one stat from one blog (that we should add is a MICROSOFT centric blog) you are comparing other system to this statistic and as such your argument does not hold water. "Sir? nice ...
the MS blog is official for xbox360 live .. they don't care if its COD or Halo or Teenage ninja turtles that is number one ... as long as its gives them royalties ... which they all do
therefore its a valid source, and therefore you are wrong.
i also said that cod4 sold 3 times as many units on 360 than ps3. so its not like counting the ps3 online UU stats would help the arguement move along. (very hard to get PSN facts, nothing official from sony sadly)

COD is COD (its a brand name)
MW2 is called COD-MW2 not IW-MW2
The COD name does the selling not IW or Trey
" @killdave: I never argued that Major Nelson was not a viable source instead I am argue that your are only calculating one statistic in a more massive statistic calculation. "Then please by all means add to it by adding your own stats/facts/links/sources etc
Giant Bomb is a massive computer game database - go find something to counteract my response that MW2 isn't scarying away all the competition to 2010 as ODST is coming out and will give it competition
I've based my arguement on previous halo performances ... now if you want to argue I suggest you go ahead and do the same? Or just let my opinion be?
