The sequel to 2007’s wildly successful first-person-shooter Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 continues the story of American and British soldiers fighting Russian ultra-nationalist forces.
While I'm not personally invested in the private servers debate for MW2 on the PC (I'll buy the game either way), what I don't understand is why IW can't follow the Valve model as far as multiplayers go - they even just announced that MW2 has adopted Steamworks... if they want to control things like Perks, can't you just tie all that stuff directly to one's steam account?
I understand that still doesn't get around the problem of cracked servers for cracked games, but those numbers vs the number of PC gamers now not buying the game is something to be considered.
I would bet that a majority of those who have a major problem with Steamworks would be pirating the game anyway.
If it's all about multiplayer data, then you're on the internet regardless, Steamworks is the same as tying to the Steam account I would imagine, just in an online form so you can access it from any computer.
so now that its supporting steamworks, the steam cloud, and steam achievements does that mean my retail copy I preordered will link to my steam account and i can just Download it if i lose my discs down the line... I have been trying to figure this out cuz if not i might cancle the preorder and just go with steam. I just like when i got orange box and left for dead and have discs but they are also on my steam library. Any info would help I would really like to know...
