You Rage, You Lose. Fox News Is On It.
" Controversal Game "Call Of Duty" On Sale At Midnight Ugh, Leave it to Fox to make it worse than it really is. "They didn't say anything that wasn't true.
" @jaklap said:This. Nothing wrong with that article. Maybe some bad wording, but that's it." Controversal Game "Call Of Duty" On Sale At Midnight Ugh, Leave it to Fox to make it worse than it really is. "They didn't say anything that wasn't true. "
No FOX, it's not similar. But what's different in the upcoming game is that people can play from the perspective of someone inside a terrorist group, similar to how gamers can play criminal in the "Grand Theft Auto" titles.
Wouldn't this just promote the game if you're going to talk smack about it regardless of whether they're true or not? I guess IW wouldn't complain about it.
Its not bad at all. I hate Fox news and all cable tabloid... uhh, I mean news channels but as @Novyx: said, its just a rewrite of the original AP article.
"" they make CoD4 sound like a atrocity that's sole purpose is to ruin people's lives. "
Infinity Ward hasn't shied away from disturbing imagery in the past. "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" begins with a character being driven through an occupied city, dragged out of the car, tied to a pole and then executed — all from the victim's point of view. The player controls other characters throughout that game, including one who perishes in a nuclear blast."
??? I don't see anything atrocious about the game after reading that. Maybe you should hop off the bandwagon ;)
Goddamn do I hate fox news, but that article seemed to be fairly non-judgmental and little rage was induced in me.
Well like I've said before, here we go, it begins.
It's when this news article is interpenetrated by a pundit, which will be in turn talked about the news portion again, but this time in regards to the controversy surrounding said product. It's a fun little cycle.
This will boil up, and we might see some buffoon in politics exclaim that it's some type of murder simulator, which is an easy stance they can take because all they have to do is to play that scene and their argument is visually validated. Context be damned in regards to videogame controversy, it's sad but true.
IW wanted to go for controversy for the sake of controversy, I say good luck, but then they already knew what they were getting into.
Any press is good press for this situation. Seeing how the preorders are through the roof, anyone who is concerned that the media might negate the sales of MW2 can breathe. What might happen is another flurry of angry media and political outcry that make our collective brains turn into mush for a few months.
This won't just be Fox News tomorrow. As I said before, this is going to get much worse and rightfully so in my opinion. Infinity Ward will be forced to take responsibility for some of the content in the game and that's that.
And they have few more vocal critics than I, but this is the one time that Fox is undeniably right to question the game. Given, it isn't out and what they have seen is "out of context," I have played the game to completion and can positively state it's as bad if not even worse with the full story in mind. It doesn't make a meaningful, emotional impression on the player and overall amounts to a rather immature display of excessive violence that should have been stopped at the studio level. Instead, what you come away with is shock not at the idea of the scenario in the game but instead why it was ever included in the first place. It doesn't fit into the story, it doesn't improve it, it doesn't send a message about terrorism--all it does is make it abundantly clear that some higher-ups at Infinity Ward are in need of some worldly advice." There are worse reasons to hate fox news. "
I know most people will disagree with me tonight simply because, as their instincts rightly tell them, it's best to disagree with Fox News most of the time. And, of course everyone wants to be on the "Hey, don't unfairly judge games!", but this--in my opinion, mind you--is the one time I'm not game.
Are people even reading it? It's perfectly fair. It would have been one thing if they presented the airport scenario on it's own, but at least they also presented an explanation & justification (Unlike the Mass Effect thing).
I really don't see what everyone's freaking out about. It's fine.
That wasn't bad at all. Thats one of the most professional fox news articles I've seen. They just report what it is, they don't even take a side. There is no reason to rage over this.
