Molag Bal, the God of Schemes and the King of Rape rules the sphere of domination and enslavement of mortals and he desires nothing more than to harvest their souls and to bring them within his grip, making them his puppets by spreading corruption and discord throughout the mortal realms. He is also the arch-enemy of the daedric lord Boethiah Prince of Plots, and is hated by the Dunmer of Morrowind. In past legends, Molag Bal was always known for trying to disrupt and destroy the bloodlines of the great houses of Morrowind, therefore ruining Dunmeri purity.

Molag Bal's plane is called Coldharbour, which he oversees. This realm is barren, cold and desolate, hopeless and full of suffering and misery. It is said to have a burning sky and muddy cold ground. Molag Bal's summoning date is 20th of Evening Star, and pilgrims are known to offer a lion pelt as means of summoning Molag Bal.

Molag Bal is also one of the four corners of the House of Troubles. The others that make up these four corners are Mehrunes Dagon, Malacath and Sheogorath. These princes rebelled against the counsel of the Tribunal of Morrowind and spread confusion and strife among the great houses. Molag Bal, as recorded in legends, tries to ruin the Dunmer gene pool. In the Molag Amur region of Morrowind, the race of monsters that inhabit that region are said to be the result of Molag Bal's seduction of Vivec in the previous era. The Daedroth are said to be the servants of Molag Bal.

There are a couple of records that state Molag Bal as the father of vampirism. One is from a Dunmeri Temple doctrine. It teaches that he spawned the first ever vampire from the corpse of a defeated foe. In the "Private Papers of Galur Rithari, Bouyant Armiger", its states one of the Bouyant Armiger called Galur Rithari was cured of vampirism by Molag Bal. However, for no apparent reason, the Dunmeri Temple keeps this record from the world. The second record comes from the book "Opusculus Lamae Bal ta Mezzamortie". In anger and hatred to Arkay, Molag Bal re-animated and corrupted the body of a Nedic female, Lamae Beolfag. She later became known as Lamae Bal and is known as The Blood Matron and first vampire.
