    Overview

    Monster Hunter Stories is a spin-off to Capcom's long running Monster Hunter franchise developed for the Nintendo 3DS. The game follows a young boy or girl who has just completed their initiation trail to become a Rider and soon becomes involved in an ancient mystery surrounding an object called the Kizuna Stone. Departing from Monster Hunter's usual action-focused gameplay, Stories is a turn-based role playing game where the player fights with a customized avatar and one of several monsters that can also be ridden outside of battle. Monster Hunter Stories launched in Japan on October 8, 2016 along side an anime based-off the game called "Monster Hunter Stories RIDE ON" which was produced by David Productions and was simulcasted on Crunchyroll. A North American release of Monster Hunter Stories was published by Nintendo a year after Japan on September 8, 2017.
