One of the goriest fighting game franchises returns to its roots, introducing a new story that re-tells the events of the first three Mortal Kombat games (with a unique twist).
I mentioned Kratos was in it- which I think is fuckin perfect, he's basically allready a Mortal Kombat character- and a bunch of other guys were like OH MAN, THEY SHOULD HAVE SOME GEARS DUDE IN THE XBOX VERSION! OR LIKE SAM FISHER OR SOMETHING. But that just doesn't fit for me. I don't even have a PS3, but I know Kratos fits perfectly into this game. If that's the only guest character then I'm totally fine with that.
I can't think of any other modern game characters that'd fit into this Mortal Kombat- who is there?
If they're gonna use a Gears character, use Skorge. Dude jumped around as a basis for warping in the game, he's got chainsaw staff, and he hurls around grenades. There's like, four moves right there and after that Fatalities are really easy to come up with (grenade stick chainsaw fucking up hydra summon boom bang done). Better than any other Gears alternative.
I don't think there really is a microsoft character that'll fit in. They might have to put in a non microsoft character in Soul Caliber when they had spawn, Sony Hirachi, and Nintendo Link.
I've said it before, I'll say it again: a Cog could fit perfectly. Remember that not all fighting game characters are lithe, kung-fu experts (Goro and Zangief leap to mind immediately) and MK could use another brute-type character who's short on finesse and long on brawling. Also a lot of choices on here aren't 360-exclusives the way Kratos is a Sony-only get.

Most of Microsoft seems to be "appropriately bad-ass while still being a semi-decent human being". Mortal Kombat isn't for decent human beings.
I'm voting Mario because it's hilarious, not because he truly fits. Gaming has gotten so sterile lately. Does Lara Croft still count as "modern"?

The Mortal Kombat characters are all pretty lean dudes:
and they have to be, in order to hop around with their crazy 3-frame-quick animations. The cogs are about 6 ft wide and would look crazy stupid jumping 8 feet in the air. They'd fit into Marvel vs Capcom, or Smash Brothers or something, but they'd never fit in this.

They are mostly lean dudes, you're not wrong, but the Shokans among a few others (Motaro and Onaga for instance) prove that there's room for a lumbering behemoth. If anything, it'd be nice to have a different play style. Like Potemkin in the mostly manic-paced Guilty Gear franchise.
How in God's sweet name does Bayonetta fit at all? Ignoring everything about her and MK, the point is to kill your opponent. She never actually killed a single person throughout the whole game. It makes absolutely no sense to have her cut off Scorpion's head or throw a giant spinning, spiked wheel on Johnny Cage. She sounds like a fanboy's dream character for that game rather than one that would actually fit and make sense.
Ryu Hayabusa makes more sense, but I'm not too sure how he would fit.
Spawn is the only person that comes too mind who actually fits pretty well into the game. Then again, I don't read Spawn, but I know enough about him to think he would fit better than Bayonetta and Ryu.
I'm not sure anyone fits as well as Kratos did for the PS3 side..
But for exclusive characters we could go with the Arbiter or one of the Spartans from Reach. Emile or George would be pretty cool. Pretty much anyone from Gears of War could work as well, Marcus, Cole, Carmine or one of the Locust.. Raam would be a good fit with some of the other monster characters. We could see an Agent from Crackdown or anyone from the Fable series could fit as well.. Thunder, Jack of Blades..
Then there's Rare's franchises. Seeing an updated version of any of the Killer Instinct characters would be fun or even Joanna from Perfect Dark.
@Icemael: You should never lose your boner for Bayonetta. No one should
On a side note, Microsoft's exclusive game library is unfortunately lacking in the personality department. I mean, in all honestly, it'll most like come down to either Marcus or Master Chief/Random Spartan. The fact that everyone's reaching for Bayonetta and old Soul Calibur II extras (Spawn) is evidence enough that their stable is damn near empty in this department. Personally, I'd love to see Saren from Mass Effect or Ryu Hyabusa going toe-to-toe with Reptile and the like.
@D34thFr3nzy: I think I put together a pretty good list of 360 exclusives and that was obviously lacking characters like Banjo & Kazooie, 'Splosion Man and Alan Wake, simply because they couldn't possibly fit into the game. There's that new medieval game they announced too, though I can't even recall the name of it. But other than Kratos and Drake, I can't think of too many characters they could really include for the Sony side either. Sackboy, a driver from GT5?
Though I would agree that Microsoft need to start focusing on creating new studio's to put out some new IP's. We've definitely seen them fall back on Halo and Gears too often and this generation has just been plagued with sequels.
I think Cole from inFamous would've fit pretty well. The guy has the power of electricity and he pulls off some wicked moves... not necessarily as good of a fit as Kratos.
" Microsoft owns Rare, Rare made Killer Instinct ... I vote Fulgore for 360 exclusive. Granted he's not as popular as Master Chief, Marcus Fenix, or Ryu Hayabusa. I do think Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct would crossover well though. Spinal, Jago, and B.Orchid would work well too. "
I wish I could come up with something better but Sreya absolutely nailed this, Fulgore would be the perfect fit for this game!
The problem is that playstatuion aparently has the only brutal enough dude in the industry to fitt into this kind of game. The only character that i kan invision into the 360 must be raiden from the uppcoming MGS rising. since he is probably the only one that will have a 360 exklusive that is brutal enough. since. War, bayonetta, Dante, and the likes are from multi platform games. and i feel that can not be tolerated since Kratos is ps eksklusive character.
and yes i know Raiden is from Metal Gear. wich is a ps eksklusive game to.
I'd actually be fine with them taking Marcus Fenix or Master Chief and throwing them in there DoA style. I'd also be fine with them throwing Batman back in there with crazy brutal fatalities (which probably can't happen because of the licensing). Raiden and Bayonetta would both be fine too, even though they're not exclusive... You know what, I guess I don't have anything new to contribute to this thread.
@crunchmonkey: I actually think this is perfect for Ezio. One fatality could be he uses his hidden blades and jabs out the opponents eyes. Another he uses poison and the opponent seizures out and explodes (for added gore). One more I could think of, he fucks his opponents, since he fucks everything. For magic powers, throwing knives? Special move, he sends another assassin to hit the target from behind.
