Surprise surprise!

A listing for Mortal Kombat Game of the Year edition has been announced on Amazon Fance, but the page was quickly taken down soon after! Luckily, the TRMK guys have a screen capture of it.

I think it's definitely deserving, not only did this have FAR superior offline content (Story mode, challenge tower, etc) than any fighting game in general, but this game really did bring back the MK franchise releasing the successful online series, and now they're going to release a reboot to the movie because of their successes.

Surely, this must be one of the unexpected surprises that Ed Boon mentioned on his twitter! See here.

That's strange. Has anyone even done their GOTY stuff yet? Or are we at the point where an game can have a GOTY edition?

I don't think a GOTY edition is ever a surprise, especially when DLC is involved.

They only did 4 DLC characters... they're gonna re-issue the disc for only 4 new characters??

Well Ed Boon did mention that there would be unexpected surprises, so they could release more dlc or put exclusive characters/content in goty edition...could be anything...

On Twitter, he said that the surprise wouldn't be MK9-related. I'm guessing they're gonna announce their new game, or something.

@buzz_killington: That could mean just MK9...not MK9 goty!!! lol I think its too soon for MK10, maybe movie related or something like shaolin monks, either way, excited!

If they made a better practice mode I'd rebuy this.

It had all the costume packs as well. I'd say a rerelease (at regular price) with the new characters plus all the DLC costumes is probably a great deal if you didn't pick it up first time.

Here's the details from an article linked on the MK Facebook page..it's the "Komplete Edition" not the "Game of the Year" edition. This actually looks like a really good value if for some reason you've waited this long:

The Komplete Edition of the game includes all four downloadable characters, as well as 15 throwback skins for the cast and three "Klassic" fatalities for the series' original trio of masked ninjas: Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Reptile. The package will also come with downloadable versions of the 1995 feature film Mortal Kombat, as well as the music CD Mortal Kombat: Songs Inspired by The Warriors.

Feb 28th on 360 and PS3. If you have not bought it yet, there's no possible way to resist now that they're throwing in a MK-themed dubstep CD, right? (Reptile and Baraka's songs rule, by the way)
