Mortal Kombat will be on the receiving end of a patch soon, according to a statement released to the official Mortal Kombat boards. News of a patch isn't surprising, considering the patch is meant to address some serious issues players have had with King of the Hill and 1v1 ranked matches.

Due to the overwhelmingly positive reception to the game, Mortal Kombat has millions of online matches being initiated worldwide every day, and we have run into some unanticipated technical issues. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios are aware of the issues with the online gameplay – specifically with 'King of the Hill' and Ranked 1 v. 1 matches - and we want to assure our fans that we are focused on resolving online issues ASAP. We have added a 'Technical Issues' section to our forum so please be sure to let us know what issues you are having so we can address those as soon as possible. Users will begin seeing improvements in online play over the course of the next two weeks. In the meantime please note that none of this will impact the single-player or offline multiplayer experience, and we greatly appreciate your patience!"

Awesome. I wish they'd add some sort of punishment for rage quitters on 1 vs 1 matches, though. People get all angry and quit once the Noob Saibot train starts coming through.

I just don't get how they messed up the netcode when BB, SF4, SSF4, and MvC3 have all come out within a year or two of each other.

Nice, hopefully this will mean some better connectivity in Ranked and King of the Hill matches.

If only Capcom would follow suit.

King of the Hill has been pretty close to unplayable once you get more then 3 people in a session but otherwise it's been great.

Exclusively on 360!

My 1v1 ranked takes like 5 minutes to find another match and then it's far from smooth during the fighting. Not that impressed. Meanwhile i jump on PC and play TF2 to Seattle and i have sub 20 ping.

 I've been enjoying the story, ladder and challenge tower modes so much I've barely touched multiplayer. When I did though I didn't encounter any serious problems.  The online matches seemed to be a tad slower then the single player modes, but no big whoop.

I haven't had any issues, aside from occasional lag.  And when I do player matches against my buddies it's been super smooth.

There's been a ton of douchebags playing, though.  But what can you do.

Hopefully they do a good job because there is no point in playing online right now.

I wonder if by "multiplayer issues" they mean "THE ABILITY TO PLAY ONLINE AT ALL".

At the very least, I would think the netcode would be worked on better than other fighting games.  Then again, Capcom fucked up MvC3's netcode after making SSF4 so anything can happen.

Ive been loving the game, but the online is jacked. Nearly impossible to find a game using player matching, half the time when challenging or joining people in lobbies the session is "unavailable", and even when a game does gets going it almost always has significant latency issues and drops more often then it should.

My online experience has been horrendous - it is a good thing the single player in this game is fantastic otherwise I would have been disappointed.  Highly anticipating this patch to get back online!

When I was able to play it on PSN, I had no troubles and really enjoyed it. I just want to play it some more!!!

But fixing problems is good to hear!

Seems like they should fix the random game freeze problem too, a lot of people are seeing that happen...

My online experience has been pretty good, only issues have been waiting a bit too long for people to responde to my challenge requests in rooms, it's like they are in the lobby but away from their console.

My experience has been pretty terrible online, anything that was timing based you could forget about because of the lag. Tried out SF4 and MvC3 just make sure it wasn't on my end.

Glad the patch will be here soon, because I intend to play the shit out of this game.

Seems like there's a spelling error - "errording the influence" should be... "eroding", I think? Also, are we supposed to report spelling errors? I know some news sites encourage that, but I don't know about the policy here - whether anyone can edit out the error if they're informed of it, etc.

My experience has been very poor. That said, if it broke because of all the people playing then I'm totally for that! That means more fights! :)
