    Mortal Kombat

Game » consists of 26 releases. Released Apr 19, 2011

One of the goriest fighting game franchises returns to its roots, introducing a new story that re-tells the events of the first three Mortal Kombat games (with a unique twist).

So... something I don't understand about the story.....

Why, in the bloody hell is a Sorcerer  (Shang Tsung) buying Guns,RPG, and other military weapons?   That is the only part of the story that makes no sense to me.  I mean... honestly what do they really have to gain?    Outworld has all kinds of hellish monsters which they prominently display during the earthrealm invasion and your telling me they need  Machine Guns and RPG's?    Uh, Whut?

Maybe I'm thinking too hard about this, but it seems like Outworld and all the other realms are pretty low tech. Sure they got sorcerers and stuff but those guys are special cases, not all over the place. If they wanted to invade earth they'd need more than swords.

They saw how easily Stryker took down dudes with a pistol so they decided to take a page from his book.

That line of thinking can destroy many things, like Tron: Legacy's story.

This was something that bothered me too about the story... but I agree with the low tech comment, would i rather have a rocket launcher or a sword...

Cause they needed a reason for Kano to be relevant past MK1.

Well, think about it. What would be better - An Evil Sorcerer with hordes of hellish minions, or an Evil Sorcerer armed with a Rocket Launcher leading hordes of hellish minions armed with high-powered assault rifles?

(Pardon any ignorance in that statement. I've yet to obtain MK, so I don't know if he actually leads the hellish minions. I still think my point stands, though. =) )

@Gabriel: Thats kinda what I'm going with at this point.  Lol.    I've always liked the  gruff  Aussie thing Kano has going on but storyline wise  he just doesn't fit in.

That's a good point, he enter to steal from Shang Tsung and ended up offering his arsenal to Kahn.

@TechHits: You still have to feel bad for Baraka, he was pretty much always the enemy you faced for the first time with a new kombatant meaning he had to be a pushover constantly. Well, him and Reptile.

This makes me sad, but you're not wrong. I always picked Kano in MK1 as a kid, just because I was infatuated with all things Terminator, and I thought Kano was one. :P So it sucks realizing that he's kind of ridiculous from a story perspective. (even by MK standards)

the thing is, I don't think shang tsung himself needs them, but if he's going to send those soldier tarkatans into the fray with just their blades - a good assault rifle will rip them to shit and stuff.

I believe Shang was buying those weapons not really for him, but for Shao Kahn's Army who probably don't have any magic skills.

@Chaossebba: I suppose... but  and well... I know I'm overthinking this for a MK game  but   The Tarkatans don't seem exactly... smart.

If the cut scene where the  one almost blows Baraka's head off with the shotgun is any indication they would have to train an entire army  with what seems the collective brainpower of a hamster.   But again... MK is well... MK.
