I've been looking around for somewhere to pick this up and noticed that all the retailers I usually go to (Best Buy, Future Shop & Blockbuster) are selling the game for $69.99.
Didn't Canada get past this price point years ago when I dollar got on par with the US? I don't remember paying $69.99 for a game in a while. Just listened to last week's Bombcast about how older game prices used to vary a lot and was just wondering this would happen now.

Why is it $69.99 in Canada?
I've never seen a game cost less than than that. I'm on the west cost, so I have to put a 12.5% tax on it as well." @TechHits: I haven't seen a game cost 69.99 in years. You from the East or West coast? "

" I think it might be just that game. Here in B.C. games have only been $59.99 for like six months. Before that they were always $69.99... Also a side note, last time I checked the Canadian Dollar was $1.03USD. "
Where in B.C do you live? Just wondering if its Vancouver or something. I'm sitting near Revelstoke and the only way for me to buy a game is through a Play n' Trade. The loonie also just jumped today and is worth $1.0437 US dollars
You in the Lower Mainland? Because I've always payed $59.99 for 360/PS3 games here in Surrey (granted that's before tax). I occasionally see $64.99, but never $69.99 unless it was a collector/special edition." I think it might be just that game. Here in B.C. games have only been $59.99 for like six months. On topic, I just pre-ordered MK from EB last week, and the dude told me $59.99 when I asked the price (I ended up getting the Kollector Edition though). Maybe different prices in different regions? I don't know...
Sounds like retailers trying to stiff you. The highest price I've seen was $64.99 and that was from EB Games.
I'm in Vancouver. I see new games on Amazon for $59.99 and some for $69.99. I just don't understand why. I thought we got past that a while ago." @Lukeweizer said:

You really haven't seen a game cost less than $69.99? I haven't seen one cost more than $59.99 in a couple years.
" Some games cost 69 It really sucks. Thankfully only a few cost that much. "I guess that's just what it boils down to.
i am going to be in toronto on launch day coming back to cayman that morning, so i am going to try and hit a midnight launch, you think $70 usd is bad, games here in the Cayman Islands cost at minimum $85 CI Dollars ($1CI = $1.25USD) so i am happy spending whatever to get it a bit cheaper!
Some games still go for 69.99 (mostly total trash games like the Dynasty Warriors games), I don't even know why. For a while now the Canadian dollar has been actually stronger than the American dollar (if I'm not mistaken).
" @Pinworm45 said:Higher taxes, lower education standards, higher unemployment, lower quality jobs, higher energy costs despite us overproducing energy, wasted money on green energy to attempt to get green votes (he never shut down the useless coal plants, people, despite his promise.) when we already have an EXCESS of energy. Higher cost of living, and overall lower amount of income, and finally, disastrous healthcare." Live in ontario?Blame your provincial government. "So McGuinty is the one to blame?I am kind of curious since Crysis 2 is $59.99. Some games just randomly seem to cost $10 more (Fable 3 was another example). "
He's responsible for all of the above. I'm sure he's somehow responsible for this too.
" I'm in Quebec and I think it's been more than a year since prices weren't $69.99 everywhere. Now, it seems as though a few stores like EB Games/GameStop have new releases priced at $64.99 and the rest (Best Buy, Future Shop...) have them for $59.99. "I'm in Vancouver and that's what I'm used to. EB always trying to get a few extra bucks out of us. But other places usually have stuff for $59.99. Hope this doesn't become a regular occurance.
" @Lukeweizer: West coast, I live in Abbotsford BC (it's like 30 min from Vancouver) "I'm in North Van and I haven't payed $69.99 for a game in years. Can't even remember the last time.

In case you haven't noticed the value of our dollar does not change the price of anything. An economy isn't going to work if the prices of everything are in a constant state of flux based off of how one currency compares to another.
" @Lukeweizer: looks like your gonna brake that trend. "Hahahaha. I'm trying not to!
Well, looks like I am going to buy my games online from now on. I'm getting screwed on price where I live.
The only reason I can think of for games costing more in Canada are two things.
- Game Manuals have to be printed in English and French
- Our nation has a population about the size of California, only it is spread out over an area larger than the entirety of the US. That has to cost a extra for shipping.
" @Patman99 said:No, I lived in the Okanagan Valley during high school and the games always cost $69.99. In all my years living there I never saw a $59.99 console game. I moved to Victoria a couple years ago to go to UVic and the price of games here, at least in the last two years, have fluctuated between $59.99 and $69.99. It must have something to do with the region. Regardless of price, I cant wait for some MK!!!You in the Lower Mainland? wat" @Three0neFive: What are you talking about? I live in Alberta and new releases are $60 for yearsssssss "
Clearly I'm shopping at the wrong places, then. Every new release - at EB, anyway - is between $64.99 and $69.99. Though I seem to remember it costing a lot more than that when I lived up north.
