60 FPS on Console

Running at 60 FPS is standard for arcade & PC games, but hardware restrictions of consoles often force developers to aim for lower framerates in order to preserve visual detail or allow greater scale. 3D console games hitting 60 FPS are thus uncommon, though the trend of re-releasing games on newer hardware has technically resulted in more 3D console games hitting 60 FPS.

Achievements

Achievements are extra challenges added into video games that sometimes carry a point value or unlock bonus material, and are sometimes solely for bragging rights.

Artificial Intelligence

Burnout

Forced Wheel spin where the brake is applied and the gas pedal is floored, therefore spinning the tires, then releasing the brake for a small boost. Not meant to be done, but a popular showboating technique.

Any game where players progress through difficult challenges that usually provide points or medals based on performance.

Color Customization

The ability to change the color of a character's clothing/armor or even a vehicle's paint with or without the use of an in-game item to do so.

Countdown Timer

The ultimate pressure feature. Players have to complete the task at hand, be it defeating opponents or cutting the right wire, in the allotted time.

Customizable Character

Some games let players customize their character (or characters). Degree of customization may vary, with some games simply allowing to choose between different types of clothes, while others provide more detailed tinkering of features such as the distance between a character's eyes or hair color.

First-turn carnage is when racing vehicles have large multi-vehicle wrecks on the first turn of the race. This usually happens when there is not enough of a straight-away between the starting grid and the first turn to seperate the faster vehicles from the slower vehicles.

Grand Prix

A form of racing designed to test the car and driver's skill and endurance. It evolved into closed circuit racing like modern Formula 1 and MotoGP. Even the Mario Kart series has it.

Honda manufactures vehicles such as the Civic, S2000 and the NSX. Honda is featured in racing game franchises such as Gran Turismo, Forza and the Need for speed series.

Laps

A lap is one circuit around a race track. This is featured in many, but not all racing games.

Licensed Cars

Games that obtained permission to feature real-life licensed car brands.

Licensed Game

These games are based off of established licenses, such as movies, comics, or TV shows. Examples are the James Bond 007 and Spider-Man franchises.

Licensed Soundtrack

Games that incorporate licensed music from popular bands and musicians for their soundtracks.

Livery Editor

Livery Editors allow you to fully customize your car's livery with all sorts of shapes that can be bent and resized to form all kinds of cool paintjobs.

Motorcycle Racing

Jump on a motor-powered bike and race against the clock or opposing drivers. Besides pure racing games, other genres may also feature this activity.
