Overview
The real life Nellis Air Force Base was built in 1941 and is one of the largest air bases in the United States, and with 12,000 employees it's one of the largest employers in Nevada. The base is featured as a named location in Jane's USAF, Novalogic's Integrated Battlespace series and in Fallout: New Vegas, and was referenced in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Nellis Air Force Base in Fallout: New Vegas
Nellis Air Force Base is the base of operations for the Boomers faction. Nellis Air Force Base was hit by multiple atomic bombs during the Great War of 2077. After the bombs hit all the people living there were killed and the base was left with a lethal amount of radiation. After the Boomers left Vault 34 in 2231in search of a new base of operations, they stumbled across Nellis Air Force Base. When the Boomers tested the radiation of the base they found it to still be radiated, but not to lethal levels. The Boomers use the base defenses to protect themselves and keep any outsiders out.
Buildings in Fallout: New Vegas
Pearl's Barracks
Pearl's BarracksPearl's Barracks is the home building of Pearl, the leader of the Boomers. In Pearl's Barracks there is also a Duck and Cover! skill magazine. Inside of the barracks is also the item Col. Blackwell's Key which will allow the player to unlock a gun case located in the Vault 34 armory.
Nellis Workshop
Nellis WorkshopThe Nellis Workshop contains both a work bench and a reloading bench. Inside the Workshop there is a skill magazine Fixin' Things. Also inside the workshop is the Howitzer Firing Mechanism, which is an item required to complete the "I Hear You Knocking" quest.
Nellis Women's Barracks
Nellis Women's BarracksThere are two Nellis Women's Barracks buildings in Nellis Air Force Base. Each building has beds for half of the women to reside on the base.
Nellis Men's Barracks
Nellis Men's BarracksNellis Men's Barracks is the building where the majority of the men who reside on the base sleep. Inside the Men's Barracks there is a skill magazine Patriot's Cookbook.
Nellis Schoolhouse
Nellis SchoolhouseThe Nellis Schoolhouse is the building where the children Boomers are taught. There are six different skill magazines located in the schoolhouse.
Nellis Medical Station
Nellis Medical StationThe Nellis Medical Station is where the bases doctor, Argyll sees and treats patients his patients. Inside the Medical Station there are three sick patients which the player can heal if the medicine skill is between 40 and 60. Each patient healed will net the player fame in the Boomer faction.
Nellis Hangars
Nellis HangarsNellis Hangars is where the Boomers are working on re-building a B-29 Bomber. The Hangar is also where the item Mister Cuddles can be found which can be given to Lindsay for some Boomer fame. There is a character named Jack who resides in the hangars and can be given scrap metal for Boomer fame. The Hangar is also the building where the character Loyal is located.
Nellis Boomer Museum
Nellis Boomer MuseumThe Nellis Boomer Museum is where Pete is located. Pete will give the player a history of the Boomer people, and if the player listens to the entire presentation Boomer fame will be gained. There is also one of the games collectible snow globes located in the Museum.
Nellis Array
Nellis ArrayOn top of the Nellis Array are the broken solar panels that must be fixed to complete the quest Sunshine Boogie. In order to repair the broken solar panels a repair skill of 65 or higher is required, or a set of scavenged parts from HELIOS One and a repair skill of 20.
Nellis Mess Hall & Munitions Storage
Nellis Mess Hall & Munitions StorageThe Nellis Mess Hall & Munitions Storage is where you will find the Boomer Munitions Manager who sells both ammo and guns. There is also the Boomer Chef who sells various food and drink items. There are two Sunset Sarsaparilla Star Bottle Caps located here as well as a reloading bench and a work bench.
Loyal's House
Loyal's HouseAt night this is where Loyal can be found. Inside Loyal's House there are five Bobby Pins and a Dean's Electronics.
