Sup fools,
I got back from dinner with a chick I took on a date, was going to see that South Park broadway play but things happened and that won't play out. Anyways, there are a lot of tourists in summer and I keep forgetting just how popular NYC is for tourists. At least the majority today were tourists, and holy shit they were from all over the world, a good percentage of them from the States too.
Look, I'm not a racist, as I am Arab and a minority, but god damn I keep forgetting how awful the city can get with tourists. People blocking the sidewalks to take pictures, they making lines three times as long...and then not ordering, or they DONT WALK WHEN THERE ARE NO CARS ON THE STREET! It's like these idiots HAVE to obey every frickin' law and they block the entire sidewalk until the light turns green...and you can't walk around them because it would be very rude or it's a group of fat people and you can't walk around them.
Don't get me started on Times Square either. I had one simple date planned today and the dinner was to be at Times Square, we saw the crowds and shit...we canceled that and decided to just eat a local place. Broadway was packed with people too, most of them taking pictures.
Holy shit I forgot how many tourists can fit into the city. Yes NYC makes a lot of money from tourists and yes it does get busy this time of year for a lot of the corporate places to eat, the local places still get their usual and maybe a couple new tourists who are in for a treat. God damnit though.
ALSO HEADS UP, PEOPLE FROM THE MID-WEST CAN'T FUCKING DRIVE! THEY DRIVE WORSE THAN THE IDIOTS FROM JERSEY! I'm sorry but they can't, as it was shown today.

The city that never sleeps. Home to Times Square, Broadway, and the Empire State Building. It is the largest city in the United States.
Does Anyone Else Hate NYC This Time of Year Due to Tourists?
stop hanging out in Times Square or Midtown. That wasn't my choice. It was hers, and I figure I stop by mid-town comics too...that place looked like they were giving out Free Comic Book Day. The theaters, the Toys R Us, and the frickin' Nintendo Store...holy shit. It was an ocean of mass.
I read that as "Does Anyone Else Hate NYC This Time of Year Due to Terrorists?". Needless to say, I was very confused.
You are doing touristy things, so what do you expect. I worked in Times Square for 6 months for MTV and I just got done with a gig that was on 8th between 37th and 38th so I know your pain and frustation. However it's what you expect in that area. And Yes I am from NYC originally, I am not a transplant. I was born and raised in Queens.
Go to Forbidden Planet around Union Square, and hang out in the Village or Brooklyn.
@CaLe said:I live in it. And why do you "hate the city" Just hate the tourists. You ask stupid questions....you don't live in the city I take it.
This really has nothing to do with your topic but I hate big cities. I despised living in Seattle, I know its not quite as big as NYC on any scale but its similar. Lots of tourists. I have to drive and you just can't really drive in seattle, its such a pain.
@The_Laughing_Man said:You forgot how busy a city can get....rightI live in it. And why do you "hate the city" Just hate the tourists. If I said I hate tourists it'd be seen as offensive. >_>I completely forgot just how busy it can get.
Yes i hate new york but not becuse of tourists
Just wait until next month when the real crowds start forming. Best solution for this is to avoid midtown at all costs. The majority of tourists think that NYC is composed of 70th to 42 St. so staying away from those major touristy areas e.g. Times Square , Columbus Circle will save you the frustration. Although this solution kind of sucks since there are a ton of cool places in those areas but, hey, thats what winter is for am I right?
I feel super sorry for you cause you got to deal with for a LOT LONGER THAN ME. I live in a middleish sized town in Indiana a hour away from the 500 and theres all sorts of idiots invading and driving like they are Will Power or somethin.
I live at the beaches in Delaware and I love tourists ! Especially the cheap labor exchange students they bring in when the summer shops open. Bring on zee accents !You get the shoebies at Delaware shores? I always go to Jersey for the shores, but never tried Delaware.
Tourists bring in money. I find that the worst tourists are the Dutch (my fellow countrymen) and the English. They go on holiday to get wasted and smash hotel rooms. We own some property in Hungary that we rent out every summer, and it's always those guys that fuck the place up.
Yes NYC makes a lot of money from tourists and yes it does get busy this time of year ...You should be thankful for the tourists.

Yes i hate new york but not becuse of tourists
i dont really mind tourists atleast in my country becuse the majority of tourists in norway are japanese and the japanese are well known for being the best tourists they pay the most tip and they are the most polite
Unlike american tourists witch are pay the least amount of tip OHHHHH BURNNNNNNNN!!!!!
well atleast the american tourists are polite (unlike german tourists)
Somehow being thought of as being good cause I throw money doesn't make me feel comfortable, you may just have to be worth it.
As for Kaos, you know damned well that like any big city you got to be local almost to know how to navigate it and what the ground rules are. Have patience for ppl. who are anxious to show respect for you and your big town, even if they are obviously not from there. Also like burn artiste shinigami appreciate they are bringing important revenue in, the main bitch and hope of any tourist attraction.
My ex came from Bayonne, but spent a lot of time in NYC. The 2 things that I found remarkable about the ppl. was how Fuck was every other word, and how willing the ppl. were to help you out. Also that there was fish in the Harbor!, Trolled around the lighthouse first thing every morning, then the Statue of Liberty, and up along some streets. Bluefish, stripers, weakfish(beautiful fish!) all there, and the harbor was looking pretty good....
dude i live in phoenix az. during the winter every old person that lives anywhere slightly cold comes and stays here until spring.
its fucking horrible. the roads are barely drivable. we call them snowbirds here. you can tell them from there out of state license plates while driving.
we all cheer when spring arrives for that reason. even though winter is the one time of year it feels good in arizona.
I don't live in New York, but after my service it's where I'd like to live. And I like to think I won't care that much about the city just becoming even more dense and difficult then usual.
Hahaha, well played.I live near Los Angeles. We hate everyone, all year round...

There aren't many in NY, we walk everywhere, we try to eat healthy and everyone rides a bike, goes to the gym or is at a park.I don't live in London, but probsBah, American ignorance. It's like how people think of NYC as the only country in America.
And tourism is in NY all the time. During the Winter you will find people around Rockefeller center. I was at SNL on the 18th and the amount of people was insane.
Damn tourist bringing all their money to spend in your city, shame on them. ($31 billion in tourism is alot of cash)
I live in a city and it gets its fair share of tourists, the way i see it is; if the tourist didnt come here would the streets be as clean? Would the area look as nice? Would the local amenities be as well maintained? Sure they may get in the way and be annoying, but at the end of the day they are making where i live a nicer place.
Even though I don't live in New York anymore, I still consider it to be my home here in the United States(originally from Pakistan and currently in Michigan). As for the tourists, you can't hate on the city for being such a tourist attraction. As the great Stephen Colbert once said on his show and I'm paraphrasing here because it was so long ago and I don't remember the exact words, "The terrorists were attacking Times Square. That's good news for Americans because that means they don't hate us, they hate foreigners. Times Square is full on only tourists. No real New Yorker ever goes there."

I went to new york last March and stayed at a Hilton about a block away from times square, so I guess I was part of the problem. I am proud to say though I was not the kind of people who don't walk when there aren't cars because I am from Chicago.
