Feel free to add anything that's confirmed and I'll add it.
It sounds like EA is really trying to add that unpredictability element to NHL that we've never really seen in the previous titles. Well I'm excited, what do you guys think about these additions? I think the broken stick thing might get annoying, but they had to add it.
NHL 11
Game » consists of 6 releases. Released Sep 07, 2010
The 19th annual release of EA's successful NHL franchise introduces a Canadian Hockey League license and a new real-time physics engine.
What new features will be in NHL 11 (might be spoilers to some)
I hope the broken sticks aren't as prevalent as they are in the real sport. Hip checks are cool though. Going to make for some awesome open ice hits at centre ice.
Honestly though my biggest complaint with the NHL series is the goalie animations. They are not good. I hope the physics engine fixes that.
Either way, the EA NHL games have been the ones to beat for a while now. The last 2K NHL game was absolutely horrible.
I'm looking forward to this being my first NHL game in ages. My last being on the Genesis. I forget which year, but it's the one where you could score every time by just skating into the goalie which caused the puck to always go in the five-hole, no shot required. Typing this I realize why I stopped playing them after that one.
I think the coolest addition this year is that they're adding the full CHL licensed teams and rosters (OHL, WHL, QMJHL). Coming from an OHL town where we care about junior hockey, this is going to be great. Adds a lot more depth and makes the career modes much more interesting.
I played the hell out of 08, bought 09 and didn't play it that much and then skipped 10. I'm hoping to get into this one. Since the Coyotes made the playoffs this year, I'm hoping they will actually give a shit when scoring the players on the team.
" @one_2nd: I never completed a full season in 09, at some point in the series did they improve how drafting works. I remember that draft was always stupid because all the players kinda sucked and never got better. "I'm not really sure. I played 1 season, then went straight to online and never stopped. I play club and otp almost exclusively.
I wish I didn't suck at this game, but I spend too much time on Fifa & NCAA to learn another sports game.
All the new features sound really cool, the physics system will be really beneficial to how 11 turns out compared to 10, which in my opinion was a step down from 09. Loving the fact they're trying to make the faceoffs more engaging, and dissalowed goals will be interesting. Just add playoff beards and 11 is going to be way better than 10.
"Still no black guy... always next year. "
Jarome Iginla was on the cover in 2003, Georges Laraque is definitely due for NHL 12 though XD. Wouldn't mind seeing someone like Wayne Simmonds on the cover either.
