    Nier is either a father trying to take care of his daughter, or a young man trying to take care of his younger sister, depending on which version of the game you are playing (Gestalt or Replicant).

    He is athletic, strong and focused in his goal, caring for little else. Although, as the journey progresses he becomes very fond of the companions and friends he makes along the way.
