Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is a PS3-exclusive enhanced port of Ninja Gaiden II, which was released for the Xbox 360 in 2008. It is the sequel to the first Ninja Gaiden Sigma, which too was an enhanced version of the original Ninja Gaiden for Xbox.
It seems that all of a sudden NG is being put in the same category as GoW, DMC and - oh Lord - Bayonetstockings.
Huh? Does NG have giant weapons, no. Do we fly, no. AoE attacks? hell no.
Sorry, I love GoW but it's a different animal. DMC is meh, and I while I enjoyed the demo of Bayonetta they cannot be serious about it being somehow similar to NG ..?

I have to disagree with you there, DMC 3 is, in my opinion, the best hack-n-slash game that you can find

Pretty much. This rant is meaningless, NG isn't another genre of game from any of them..it doesn't fit anywhere else, of course it is going to be bunched up here. Its like Halo and Battlefield, they are going to both be in the same category being FPS, but are nothing similar other than the main part of what makes the genre.

So lemme see I understand this correctly.
You see nothing similar in 3 games that all use 3rd person perspective where the player character punches kicks, slices and/or shoots projectiles at enemies?

No. Demons Souls is an RPG, it's focus is on character development and collecting loot. Way of the Samurai is an action adventure game, it's focus is on story with some historical context. Mirror's Edge is not the same as Prince of Persia because ME is first person while every PoP game has been 3rd person, even the first two by Jordan Mechner, except that were flick scrollers.

Being obtuse doesn't make you right. In your first two examples, it may have been possible, except that their focus isn't on the action. In your last example, which you obviously pulled from your rectum in desperation, you don't seem know the difference between 3rd an 1st person.

Exactly this. Just because Warcraft uses a high-fantasy theme and Command and Conquer uses a futuristic warfare type theme, and just because they may use different mechanics does not mean that they do not both classify as real-time strategies. Inherent differences does not a new genre make. What would you like Ninja Gaiden to be compared to? Itself and only itself?

But that gets us WAY off track. Ninja Gaiden just feels different to these games. EVERY enemy you meet has a certain weight to them. I don't know how to explain. I am also too drunk.
People just group the kind of games you've described together for the purposes of genre-classification, I seriously doubt there are many out there with proper knowledge of video games who think God of War and Ninja Gaiden are virtually the same game. I must admit I got a bit lost in your argument around the time you started saying grouping Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry together was the same as calling Demon's Souls a hack-and-slash game though.
