The Nintendo 3DS is a portable game console produced by Nintendo. The handheld features stereoscopic 3D technology that doesn't require glasses. It was released in Japan on February 26, 2011 and in North America on March 27, 2011.
Reports have been surfacing on the 3DS's devlopment costs, and it turns out its cost is 3 times more to develop than the current generation of the Nintendo DS. This is probably responsible for the higher price tag to inevitably come attached the US launch of the 3DS.
Knowing the development costs do you find the possible $249-$299 price tag a good or bad deal?
Man the price rationalizing is starting early with this one.
I think it's too much, but I think handhelds in general cost to much. Videogame consumers should stop excepting companys' excuses, it shouldn't matter what it cost them. What if they said "development cost us ten times as much"? Would that justify a $600 dollar price tag?
Ahhh, I dunno. The real question for me is: What are they gonna be charging for the games?
@LordAndrew: not even current gen consoles can run it on very high, rather medium settings. It's not the type of benchmark you should be comparing it to. So far i'm impressed by 3ds games, it's like ps2 or near wii quality. The psp is only like early ps1 graphics.
