The Nintendo 3DS is a portable game console produced by Nintendo. The handheld features stereoscopic 3D technology that doesn't require glasses. It was released in Japan on February 26, 2011 and in North America on March 27, 2011.

A question about the 3DS charger...

I've been planning on getting a 3DS for quite a while, and although I will definitely be getting one later this year, there is something I'd like to know a little more about. The charger. After years of having to deal with the overly obnoxious DS AC adapter, I was wondering if Nintendo has finally figured out how to make one that can actually fit next to other plugs in the wall socket.

    Seriously, this thing is massive.

So, have they actually managed to do it?

@benny: Oh, wow. That sucks. I can't even fit anything on either side of that thing.

My 3DS XL charger does not look like that. It's a small, flat block with the plugins in the top. If it's plugged into the bottom wall socket, the top one stays free.

    EDIT: Looks like this:

I think the difference here is the region. The charger in the first picture is a charger you can use in some european countries, mine (german) looks the same. And I don't have an issue with it, it is pretty slim.

Is there an AC adapter that isn't so long? I was considering getting this:

    http://www.amazon.com/Nyko-Power-Kit-3DS-Nintendo/dp/B0057WWP2W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372887927&sr=8-1&keywords=nintendo+usb+charger

and just using the USB cable (3 feet) with a USB-wall adapter. That way I have a charger that is only 3 feet.
