Seemed like everyone on that Nintendo stage was really uncomfortable, almost self conscious. The whole thing had a really disquieting vibe to it.

No price, date or specs for a system realising later this year. Really? Think the boys may have to pack their bags for TGS this year.
Nintendo said weeks ago they weren't talking about pricing or release date.
Ok didn't realise that. I just remember when that was the norm for a console release.
I get the feeling after having to drop the 3DS price they just aren't confident about what they can charge especially that when they commisioned the WiiU tech they were probably riding the crest of the Wii's popularity.
I wasn't aware of this either^
And I bet a lot of people are completely unaware of Nintendo's statement regarding not talking about pricing and release date. :\
I personally thought the first 1/3 of the conference was OK... I wasn't surprised at all by all the old 3rd party games they were showing, and the Pikmin and Mario showings were good. But then there was the last 2/3s of the conference... Oh dears. :(

A lot of people take the content of these conferences way too seriously. That's my takeaway from all of this.
Theoretically- the conferences are meant to be taken seriously and non-seriously at the same time. :P (Given all the memes they generate yearly)
For me it went: Sony > Ubisoft >>>>>>> EA > Nintendo > Microsoft.
There were a couple of cool looking things in Ninty's conference but the amount of absolute shite completely made me forget about most of it. And I didn't even have any expectations of it being interesting to begin with so I'm not disappointed, just bored.
I think they're saving bigger, better announcements for next year in order to compete with Microsoft and Sony's next generation offerings. The Nintendo conference was a little flat though.

@Brodehouse: It's a new console, I think most people are gonna wanna be wowed.
And by wowed, do you mean cgi trailers like the last cycle? Shoot, what was that game, it was at the MS conf (i think), had a girl and a robot... gah... i can't seem to remember what it was called.... maybe 'raven' something.

You guys are so dramatic. No expectation management whatsoever.
No you don't get it! Nintendo dissapointed me I was expecting the sky and they brought me nothing! I'm gonna change the color of my name! ...
In all honesty I didn't have high expectations for any of the conferences to deliver anything other than what they've been doing, showing a couple of games that we knew already because everything got leaked and show some dumb thing nobody likes , some of you guys never learn it's kinda sad.

Bigger announcements like yet another Mario game? Maybe even Zelda or Donkey Kong! All the same boring old franchises you've gotten to know and love over the past 2 decades!

does anyone know where I can watch the post conference Geoff-Reggie interview? I can't find it on GameTrailers.
Yeah, I don't get why Nintendo doesn't give more of a focus to the really awesome third-party gems during their press conferences. Seems like talking about those, even if they aren't necessarily exclusives, would be more of a boost of faith. It's the Nintendo staples that need much less air time because they're pretty much already known quantities.
I don't get you guys
Pikmin 3
Mario
Assasin Creed 3
Rayman Legend
Lego thing (forgot the name on that one)
Scribblenauts Unlimited
Darksiders 2
Marvel thing (not sure about this title, but why not)
Ninja Gaiden 3
And for those that missed them
Mass Effect 3
Batman Arkam city
I call that an ok lineup for a new console, there will probably be a couple of titles that won't be released on lauch day, but that's still impressive in my opinion. Keep complaining internet.
I guess it's telling that the only interessting game on the WiiU so far is from a Third Party Developer. And I'm a huge Nintendo fan...
Pretty much exactly what I was excpecting. Extremely boring, had to go play a game after a while, couldn't stand it anymore.
Nintendo was pretty meh, I think its just a big fail because THEY ARE LAUNCHING A CONSOLE THIS YEAR..... well they might not be they didnt say any release day/pricing -_-
They did nothing to sell me on Wii U which was probably the only thing they were suppose to do. Much more excited about 3DS than Wii U..........
I think sony's conference did its job well, hyping good first party game (the wonderbook stuff was worse than Usher which is saying a lot). MS also did what they had to do, showed Halo + bunch of third party game that people want to play + talk about media hub's future with smart glass which is really the business they wanted to be in from day 1. So even though Sony and MS were not great conferences (Sony better than MS game wise, but MS better with their tech I would say) I think they come out happy about what they presented and what people got out of their conferences.
Nintendo.... I don't even know man
I am excited about Halo 4, SouthPark, RE6, Tomb Raider, Last of US, AC III, Beyond and Watch Dogs. Plus pretty interested in Rising, Splinter Cell and FarCry 3. So overall It hasn't been a terrible E3, better than I expected with the end of the cycle coming up.
@vince_kupo: Every single one of those was already announced, or in Scribblenauts case had been leaked well beforehand. And yeah, I think the line up will be solid.

It was bad, don't get me wrong, but come on... it wasn't like it's the end of Nintendo as we know it. Some of you guys are completely overreacting
"nintendo as we know it " has been dead since 2007, this was just conformation that they aren't coming back
E3 just isn't for the hardcore anymore guys
Just look at the upcoming game for the rest of the year, there are a ton that look good and most of those were announced outside of E3.
Nintendo had nothing to show, that could have genuinely wow'd me. They should have known better, and promised me the sky like Sony did when they announced PS3 back in the day - with a tonne of phony CG 'target' trailers for franchises I'd care about, if they were all shiney and new - like Zelda and Metroid.
Guess I won't be an early adopter, and by the time they'll have the goods, I and the world at large will likely already have moved on. Unless they repeat the Wii Motion Control phenomenon (I highly doubt it), they'll definitely lose a large portion of their current consumerbase.
It's still Nintendo, and they still got lots going for them, but raking in a million dollars per employee won't be happening anytime soon again.

Yes, that's the main thing here, we were all expecting it to be like, ok, they milked that casual cow as much as they could, now they're coming back, but man...
I think this system will fail.
I don't think lightning will stryke twice with the casual crowd, and i think they just completely lost core gamers, even long time Nintendo fans are saying they're done with Nintendo.

Agreed.
Complaining is a way of life
That was tragic. Nintendo didn't show anything worthwhile, other than Pikmin 3. Everything else was old, or unimpressive. Zombie U looked like CG, and probably isn't a game yet.
What the fuck has happened this year?
@niamahai: A lot of the games are listed as Holiday, so it's going to be this year. The price is the problem, as if they try to sell it over $250/£200 they will struggle for sales.
The opportunity to use two of their stupid controller is kinda welcomed, I guess...
Ubisoft had the best conference. That is amazing.
EA was offensive with the DLC focus and the new Dead Space looks misguided. Microsoft's was boring and full of casual stuff, but that's nothing compared to how terrible the majority of Nintendo's conference was. I'll take the first ten minutes with Miyamoto over the entire rest of the conference, thank you. So. Much. Crap. Nintendoland is Mario Party meets Playstation Home, and they close on that? Nothing new, except one DS Mario game, which is a sequel and both of those Mario games don't exactly inspire excitement. I guess I knew already that it was unlikely they'd show much, but something, anything would have been tolerable. Like at least throw some basic information about games being worked on, if you don't want to show CG. Plus the filler with Reggie talking bullshit about "we have so little time, but here's ten minutes of Just Dance 4"... eurgh. Very underwhelming, feel disappointed, but it's my fault for getting my hopes up.
Sony's conference was okay, I felt. They had some new games and the Sony Smash Bros. game looked better than I thought it'd look [i.e. shit] but they still didn't "wow" with anything. This is Nintendo's new hardware year, and they showed nothing besides Pikmin 3. I am in shock.
I think I need to stop watching E3. ._.
No Zelda, Donkey Kong, Star Fox, Mario Kart games announced. They also didn't announce the game I most want to play which would be a new F-Zero. Regardless, Pikmin will probably be good, and New Super Mario Bros is safe, and will definitely sell copies...
The thing you guys still don't get is that Nintendo didn't "start" with the casual crowd in 2007. They started in 1985 with the NES. They always marketed towards the wider market rather than 'the video game hardcore crowd'. The 'hardcore gaming crowd' was hanging around smoking in arcades, and Nintendo ignored them in favor of kids; You, in 1986. The hardcore gaming crowd in the 90s was not you playing Donkey Kong Country in your parents basement, it was dudes playing Syndicate on their PCs.
You got older and Nintendo stayed the same. They never betrayed you, you betrayed them.
