Games often use iron sights to define precision shooting with non-scoped weapons.
Games where the protagonist's weapon physically displays the amount of remaining ammunition. This is commonly used to increase a game's immersiveness.
HUD elements, such as health or ammunition, which appear physically on the player characters outfit, objects, equipment and weapons.
Machinima is the concept of making a movie out of a video game. Popularized by the series, Red vs Blue.
Realism is where a game attempts to accurately mimic real life through gameplay mechanics and visuals. For example, realistic shooters, such as Operation Flashpoint, Full Spectrum Warrior, or Brothers in Arms, typically focus upon squad tactics, i.e. suppressive fire and flanking.
Popularized by Splinter Cell: Conviction during its development, this technique involves projecting information, such as objectives and controls, onto the surfaces of a virtual environment.
