I'm going to say yes, but that's probably from wishful thinking. I really have no fucking clue. I think at this point the game is steeped in so much caginess from the developers, that it's hard to get a bead on what the heck is going on with that whole thing.

I feel that at this point they'll be under pressure to release it in June; so it may be buggy, or missing some content at launch.

I have this suspicion that it would be out already but they had to bake it a little more to get it working properly with playstation VR(or just postponed it to coincide with ps vr release really), Sony said they wanted to release that thing on the first half of 2016 and this is the clear perfect poster child for that.

I can see it already, they announcing ps vr immediate availability at their E3 PC plus NMS bundles (which of course will come as no surprise since they'll obviously have to supply retailers way before that and the information will inexorably leak).

@paulmako: Didn't you hear? There was a last minute delay because matchmaking was borked and there was a problem with the leaderboards in which all names were just "Boob" and "Ass". Thankfully though Sean Murray announced everyonr would get a free costume pack as an apology.

Seriously though, I don't see this getting delayed. If nothing else Sony is probably providing additional assets to help ensure it goes smoothly.

Yep, I think so. The longer they stay quiet about it, the better.

They waited as long as they did before announcing a release date so I'd like to think they wouldn't have done that unless they were confident they could hit that date. Although game development is a fickle mistress so who knows what could happen between now and then.

I don't know but what I do know is that I've all but completely lost interest in this game. When it comes out and it actually delivers on half of what everyone is assuming that it's about then sure I'll give it a shot. Until then I'm not really holding my breath anymore.

I could easily see it being delayed until the Fall.

Seeing how long it took for them to announce an actual initial date, it wouldn't surprise me if they delayed it to November and bundled it with Sony's VR.

I'm like 80% confident that it's a Playstation VR launch title, so whenever that's released, No Man's Sky will be. Sony has said first half 2016 for VR, so unless that gets delayed, I would think No Man'sSky should hit the date.

It's really hard to say.

If rumors are true it was only pushed back to put on the PS4 and maybe even PS VR.

But if you're Sony, and you have this dope exclusive under development that's really hyped, you don't let the this release date get close. You announce the delay a long time in advance.

June is still a bit away so maybe Sony will still delay or something crazy will happen and delay the project. But if I was a betting man, and I'm not, I'd say this comes out in the summer.

I add, just to undercut myself, that June 2016 isn't a release date in normal terms. It's a time frame. I wouldn't be shocked if it slipped a month or two, got a HUGE marketing push at E3, and then released.

I get some skepticism because we haven't seen much of the game lately, I guess but the baseless "there's no chance" answers make no sense to me. It seems like there's a lot of people who actively want to believe this game is going to fail for whatever reason.

Well Sony just tweeted that this game is coming out on 21st of June, so it sounds like it is still on track.

Hopefully this reduces the scepticism for a few days.

I want to believe June 21st will happen, but the realist in me expects a "put the finishing touches on it" delay announced just before E3, some gameplay that finally looks like a video game shown at E3, and a Fall release date that they'll actually hit. I'm not sold that they're not showing too much now because "they don't want to spoil things"; I think there's just not enough to show at this point in time. I'm sure Sony wouldn't mind if this hits closer to the holidays, either. So I'm expecting Fall. I'd love to be wrong.

I would like to update this thread with the following information: Sources: No Man's Sky Delayed (Kotaku)

The ambitious space game No Man’s Sky has been delayed, two sources tellKotaku. We don’t know exactly what the new release date is—and it may not be finalized yet—but we’re hearing it’s been bumped until at least July or August.

Ironic that I read this topic this morning before work, come home to find it has been delayed.

I hope this means the game is just getting finished off properly and will be out in a state that means we can enjoy it. Rather a few weeks delay (or longer) and have a great game over a rushed game that feels half finished when it comes out.
