Face Mapping allows the player to insert their facial likeness onto a character within the game. It has become a recurring feature in a few EA Sports games, such as the FIFA and Tiger Woods franchises.
Developed in-house by Kojima Productions, this development tool will allow the studio to develop titles for multiple platforms simultaneously. The first title to be developed with this engine is Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Gouraud shading is a method of making polygonal objects appear much smoother by applying a gradient to each individual polygon, effectively blending them. Named after Henri Gouraud.
A graphical effect used in video games where an object blocks light and around the edges of the object the light is significantly brighter than normal.
Similar to parallax scrolling, parallax mapping shows the illusion of depth in a texture.
An advanced shading model, including diffuse, ambient and specular shading, with per-pixel lighting. Developed by Bui Tuong Phong, it was introduced to gaming with the Sega Hikaru arcade system in 1999. Since the mid-2000s, it has been the most widely used shading model in modern 3D video games.
