Overview
Occultic;Nine is a multimedia work that initially began in 2014 as a series of light novels written by the producer of the Science Adventure series, Chiyomaru Shikura. Occultic;Nine was orginally intended to be the first entry in a franchise internally referred to as the Science Visual Novel series, which was going to be unrelated to the Science Adventure franchise despite the title sharing the same use of semicolons. The story was later adapted into several other mediums including a manga starting in 2015 and a 12 episode anime produced by A-1 Pictures in 2016.
Finally a visual novel adaptation of Occultic;Nine was created by 5pb and released in Japan for the PlayStation 4, Vita, and Xbox One on November 9, 2017. However, shortly after the game's initial release in 2018, it was revealed that Occultic;Nine would be ported to the Nintendo Switch and that it would contain additional story content including a "true ending" that would connect the game to the Science Adventure Series. This new version of the game was to be called "Occultic;Nine: New World" and the additional content was planned to be added to the previous versions as a free update. However, years after this announcement, this update was canceled and there has been no news on if the Switch port will be released.
