In game terms alchemy is typically an item creation system. Centuries ago it was the pursuit of changing normal metals into gold, unsuccessfully.

Bats, hammers, wrenches, maces, staves, or even brass knuckles. These are weapons intended for blunt trauma rather than cutting or slicing.
Brewing is the production of alcoholic beverages through the process of fermentation. It is most closely associated with beer, but can also include wine, tea, cider, mead and other liquids.
Crafting allows players to create their own items with the correct ingredients. It is used mainly in MMOs and RPGs.
An industry game design convention that's appeared in many games over the years. The fetch quest involves sending the player out to collect a certain number of items, and return them to complete the quest. A staple of the RPG and Adventure game genre.
Fletching the process by which aerodynamic arrows are crafted. This trade skill is often a chosen profession of rangers, rogues, and warriors. In games, the fletching usually includes the skill of crafting bows as well.
Guards guard stuff, block doors, and sometimes arrest you.
A guild is a group of people who are expert at a skill or task and have banded together for ease of employment. In games guilds take many forms, from massive societies of real people in MMOs, to simple places to level up and receive quests in most RPG's
A guildmaster is the leader of a guild.
Quest givers that task the player with killing an enemy or specific number of enemies.
Many games allow you to buy stuff, these are the dudes who help sell it to you. Typically they also engage in light conversation.
Ogres are large, grotesque, barbaric humanoid creatures. They are generally not very intelligent, but make up for that with their unmatched strength used to crush and maim their foes.
Piercing weapons are designed primarily for stabbing and puncturing to cause damage rather than slicing or cutting. Examples include knives, daggers, spears, lances, needles, shivs or improvised weapons such as ice picks.
Pottery is one of the oldest forms of art in the world, and it is still popular today. In some games, pottery is a tradeskill that can be learned.
A Priest of Discord can be found in almost every city throughout Norrath. They preach about chaos and encourage fighting amongst adventurers.
The act of taking on an in-game task; most often, these are provided to the player by an NPC. MMOs and RPGs are the primary users of this concept.
Safe Fall is a skill that, as the skill increases, allows one to fall from higher and higher distances without taking damage.
Shadow Knights are a hybrid of Warriors and Necromancers and are reknowned as the most evil and feared fighters in Norrath.
Shaman are mediums between the mortal and spiritual realms. In games, they are often priests with the ability to heal via magic and crafted potions.
No point in gathering coins, gold, gil, money, or whatever if you can't buy anything with it.
Slashing weapons are designed to cut and slice rather than causing blunt trauma. Examples include swords, axes, claws, naginatas, or even whips.
Smithing is a trade skill used to craft and shape metal. Steel, iron, gold, silver, pewter, tin, copper, and other metals can be used to craft armor, blades, guns, coins, arrowheads, locks, and a myriad of other objects.
Soulbinders are NPCs in EverQuest that will bind players to specific places so that, if the player dies, they will respawn at that location.
Throwing weapons include knives, shurikens, axes, darts or even explosives such as grenades and molotov cocktails.
A trainer is a NPC with the ability to teach the Main Character new skills, improve upon old ones or simply raise attributes once certain conditions are met. (Not to be confused with mentor.)
