I've managed to make it into diamond. I pretty much play support exclusively in competitive (mostly Mercy, some Ana and Lucio) and apparently that is what most teams need. I had some shitty placement matches (people running all over the place, making effective healing impossible) and initially ended up at ~2600 so I'm glad that I've managed to climb a bit. I am a bit worried that my other classes (DPS, Tank) are not up to par and that I've locked myself into playing support for the rest of my life, but we'll see. My Pharah is pretty good but she is way to weak against so many heroes on most maps.

I placed around 2500 I think. Reached exactly 3000 SR yesterday playing pretty much only Zarya and Roadhog. Thing is that ever since I've had no urge to play Competetive anymore...

Well, after 30 hours of season 2 I've finally reached Diamond.

So jealous of you all. I'm stuck in ELO hell and lose 2 out of every 3 matches, so I'm never clawing my way back up.

Saw my first top 500 player today for this season, something like 286, and they were on my team too. Not that it did us much good because we lost lol, but it was cool to see. They were ranked 3600 or around there. Also saw my first person with a silver border, ie 6 times prestige. That's some going, I'm only 1 star haha.

@frodobaggins: I've only had bad luck in somehow getting a top 500 player on the opposing team, and I haven't even reached Diamond rank yet. I'm real close though! Sitting at 2997 right now.

Not too shabby as Soldier, Tracer, Pharah, and Reaper if the team needs the extra firepower.

I do fine with Lucio, and I'm starting to get more confident with my Ana to bust her out every now and then in competitive if there's a better Reinhardt on the team.

@josephknows: hi will defo send you a friend request! Dropped down to 2850 or something like that at the moment. I play Winston/Zarya on attack, Hog/Zarya on defense or Lucio/Zen if we only have one healer. Also partial to Reaper. Tend to play mainly UK evenings but does vary from time to time

@frodobaggins: I'm part of the Overwatch community on PS4! That used to be real active a couple of months back with a full party almost always being up around 7-12 at night. I'm one of the few that haven't stopped playing since. Not sure if you were ever in the parties I was in though. I'll be playing shortly so maybe we can party up!

Is anybody else ready for at least an announcement of what is coming next? I would like to know if there is a Halloween event coming. Waiting until Blizzcon feels like an eternity at this point.

@chemystery: there almost certainly will be a Halloween event, or so i tell meself. I'm so looking forward to some cool skins and emotes. Skeletal Zenyatta that fires tiny little skulls instead of orbs? Yes please!

@frodobaggins:Well there were the Halloween voice line leaks back in July. It seems like a mortal lock they'll be doing something for it. I just hope they handle it better than the Summer Games Loot Boxes.

New piece of advice for season 2! If you're below Diamond and your teammates ask you at the start to go triple tank, tell them to stick with something more traditional. I'm noticing this is yet another piece of the recent Meta players are trying to apply without understanding how it works. So far, any time I've seen it asked for, it's been kind of a disaster save one match last night. The funny thing is the one good use of it was last night in QP when I was matched with a 5-stack. Even then, we still kind of choked away the first round after going up 99-0 (the other team was decent and we just did a bad job coordinating the retake. Then someone else in the 5-stack took over as Rein and I went Zarya and we mostly were fine after that).

It kind of fits into the story of season 2, which is players trying to use high-impact/high-risk characters without knowing how or being good enough at those roles. McCrees who can't hit their shots, Tracers engaging tanks rather than Supports, teams asking for Winstons without knowing how to push off Winston distractions, etc.: season 2 seems to be a story about the masses trying to catch up with the pro level without first grasping the basics.

I had a hot match the other day where the enemy team was counter picking to stop me. For once I was that Pharah that needed to have a dedicated Soldier 76 on them. For once I was that Pharah that pushed said Soldier 76 off Ilios repeatedly!

I'm beginning to think I got extremely lucky or something during season 1 because I just seem stuck in a loop at 2700-3000. I've been doing a lot of looking at other players stats who I'm grouped up with, and the vast majority seem to have done mid 50s season 1. Maybe this is actually where I'm suppose to be, but it doesn't feel like it. For every good game I get into where I'm getting shielded by our zarya when I dive as Winston, I have another where a team mate picks Symettra and doesn't even get the teleport up before first point falls. Like, I thought people by now would have figured out that to give yourself a good chance of winning on 2 point or hybrid maps you want to do all you can on that first point, and you need staying power. 1 Roadhog tank and 1 Lucio healer isn't going to cut it lol. I sound like a kid throwing his toys out of the cot.

Up to 3200 and feeling great about it. Games have been mostly great fun at this point, and I've started to play Reinhardt a lot. I hardly touched him in season 1 but I've been finding I tend to do a better job at staying alive on defense with him than most and he seems almost a necessity at this point. Getting a lot of top 500 players, every other game it seems, skill rankings are fluctuating 500 SR or more between players.
