Overview
Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness is a visual novel developed and published by 5pb. The game was released in Japan on May 28, 2015 on the Xbox One, and later ported to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. It has been licensed for a fall 2016 western release by NIS America, Inc, where it will be released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita (North America on September 13, 2016 and Europe on September 16, 2016). An English PC port was released on Steam on April 24th, 2017.
Story
Set in the near feature, the year 2112. Emotions, desires and social diseases are all documented and managed by the government, as knows as the Sibyl System. Determined by the government, people are assigned a number that will shape a person's lifestyle. This number is known as a Psycho-Pass. The system also has the ability to calculate a person's Crime Coefficient, this represents a individual's criminal capacity, which is measured by officers using the Sibyl System issued Dominator Portable Psychological Diagnosis and Suppression System, a handgun which once aimed at a criminal determines their Psycho-Pass and sets to 1 or 3 modes, Non-Lethal Paralyzer, Lethal Eliminator and Destroy Decomposer. There are two groups of officers, the Enforcers and the Inspectors. Enforcers are people with high Crime Coefficient, once criminals now officers of the law, they assist the Inspectors who use their criminal mind to solve cases. Inspectors are the people who command and watch over Enforcers, making sure they stay in line.
The game will take place during the first six episodes of the first anime season and will feature a original story that stars a new male and female character, Enforcer Takuma Tsurugi and Inspector Nadeshiko Kugatachi. These two will serve as the protagonist of the game who will battle against a new enemy. Characters from the anime will make an appearance. Writer Gen Urobuchi, the creator of the series, will be providing script supervision for the game's story.
