Is it possible to return to the Mushroom Kingdom after being dropped into the jail in Bowser's castle? My friend insists that you can but he couldn't prove it.

If it is possible, please tell me how.

And if it isn't, please sign here so I can show him this. ;-P

At the end of the game after you've gone up into Bowser's castle, you eventually come to a point where you're talking to this statue and he opens a trap door beneath you. You fail down into a jail cell with a bunch of toads. At this point, there is not way from what I can tell that you can go back to Mushroom Kingdom, and you're basically locked into the final mission like in Fallout 3.

I think you can only after you've beaten the game. But all you can do is talk to the people, nothing else. Besides this I really don't remember.

After you beat the game, I think you go back there momentarily before the end credits roll, but you can't save or anything.

I'm pretty sure you can allways come and go as you please. I allways used to save at the very end and have to walk through the entire dungeon to go back and do side quests and stuff. And really, after you get dropped in, you ultimately get back to where you started and open it properly within ten, twenty minutes, so I doubt any lasting damage is done by the fall.
