Parkitect is a game in which players build theme parks. This means designing the roller coasters, placing the rides, and planning everything else. Staff and guest management play a large part in the game, and the player must make sure both are happy. That means managing prices, food and drink, making sure there are fun rides, and so on.
Parkitect also has a resource system for shops, where the player must manage how the resources get from delivery zone to the shops. This is done through employees and various other systems.
Another new addition to the genre is a 'behind-the-scenes' system where the player must hide the utility aspects of the park from the guests, much like real theme parks.
The game was crowdfunded on Kickstarter for $63,730 CAD in August, 2014. The game entered public pre-alpha as of September 9, 2015.
Released on Steam Early Access on May 5, 2016.
