     Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2200 @ 2.20GHz
    4GB RAM  running vista
    Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family
(yes, it's an integrated graphics card)

I was planning on turning the direct x down to 8, thats what I do for tf2 and cs:s. will I be able to run it? thanks in advance guys
if you're just going to like me to canyourunit, i don't meet the minimum because they say my graphics card does not have hardware t&l. can I still run it on lowest settings though?

I realize this will probably be moved very quickly, but the left 4 dead 2 board is well.. dead. I just want an answer and then the thread can be locked if the powers that be wish it so.

EDIT: the game is unplayable with my current setup, as I have found out

Generally you can "run" any game. But the question is if it is up to your own minimum standards. Example, my friend plays on low settings with virtually everything and roughly 25fps, works for him but I personally can't stand it.

I honestly never understood why more PC games don't have demo's. I love L4D2 on the 360 it's one of my favorite games ever, I know it will be better on the PC but then I worry if it will actually run on my laptop, L4D2 gets pretty cheap on steam but I still don't want to spend the $9.99-$19.99 on a game I'm not sure will run correctly. Sorry I can't help but you have my empathy.

Doubt it, especially as I don't think you can turn it down to DX8.

I used to have an xbox, it rrod'd on me, and now I want me some l4d. I'd even take l4d one, honestly. I'd settle for absolute minimum graphics, but I just don't want to buy it and have it be unplayable. if anyone can tell me definitively that it won't play, i'd take their word. If it helps, my current setup plays cs:s and tf2 pretty well, i just turn the graphics down a bit and the direct x down.

it's a launch command in the properties of other steam source games, I figured it would apply to l4d as well :\

If you go to google type in "can you run it" and the first option should be a systemrequirementslab thing. If you allow java to run on it it will tell you how well you can run a game and what is lacking if not

@TheWyotee93: which I did, and the only thing making me miss minimum is that my graphics card does not have hardware t&l

That thing is not a good guide though. It said I could run both Dragon Age and Left 4 Dead 2 just fine but I actually couldn't.

It will run just not well. Expect 15-18frames/sec @ 640 x 480 with everything on low.

Dear god, integrated graphics? You definatly have enough RAM, and I'm pretty sure the CPU can handle it. But the graphics might prove to be a problem, You should be able to get a kind of crappy card for fairly cheap, I think you could run it on an 8800gts.

From experience, TF2 runs well on medium-high on my old comp's G33. I'd presume you'd be able to cut the mustard on low, but I wouldn't be able to convincingly say yes to you.

You'll probably get a less than stellar 10-15 frames a second, even with all the graphic effects and resolution turned down.

@Ahmad_Metallic: I may or may not have taken certain advice you prescribed. basically the game is unplayable. I figured I'd answer back to the thread in case anyone gets a google search result back to it with my setup by any chance, as I did while doing research.

i got L4D2 to run on a P4. 2.5 ghz 1 gig of ram and a 9800 pro 128mb. it was not pretty and it would take a year and a day to load a level but i could play it, and did for a few weeks.

Never trust that thing. That site is completely unreliable.
