i think we aren't allowed that kind of talk, but assuming that you are all for a legal purpose, daemon has better, faster, later technology.

well they can be used for legitimate purposes too. Like not waring out you dvd drive or fumbling trough stacks of cds or if you drive is really slow speeding load times and reducing spin-down lag

I like Daemon tools better.  It worked great for installing Visual Studio 2008 (downloaded via Dreamspark).  I realize I could've used Alcohol 120%, but Alcohol feels clumsy.

Why not? The programs themselves aren't illegal to use. It's like getting in trouble for talking about the internet because you can use it for piracy purposes.

I like Daemon Tools.  To me Alchohal just isn't as intuitive.

I'm sure we're allowed to talk about this.

I liked Daemon when it was free, but Alcohol, for my money, is way better. I haven't used either for like six months though, maybe more.

I use daemon tools but also have the latest  Alcohol 120%. 120% has the option to create not only disk images but make your own images from stuff you have stored on your Harddrive.  There shouldn't be any problem talking about this stuff here, its very useful for making images of games you own in case the disk gets damaged or just so its less of a hassle next time you install the game.

It used to mount ISO and such into fake runnable DVD roms, being whatever the ISO is; game, movie, etc.

ISO  is the most common format but there are other image formats like MDS, you can also create an image of all your games and store them on your harddrive to keep them safe, when ever you need them just mount them using one of daemon tools virtual drives

I've never used Daemon tools, but I've never had any problems with Alcohol 120%, so I guess I recommend that.

Daemon-Tools. ReTarDedFisHy loves the simplicity. That is, if you guys are talking about mounting, of course.

Honestly, using Daemon Tools illegally is wrong no matter what the purpose is even if you lost the game. But I like Daemon Tools better...

yeah, daemon is much better. Also, some people, like me hate having to switch cds in and out and such...hence a good and legal use for daemon tools

Just pointing out that if you live in the United States even using Daemon for fair use purposes is probably a violation of the DMCA as it circumvents copy protections.  But I like Daemon better.

f them BOTH! ... actually F them ALL ... you should buy your games online IMHO.

    STEAM baby! ...

anyways I say f them both because I use PowerISO for all my mounting needs.  It features all the grand stuff of daemon / alcohol in an easier to use package.  Mounting is just a right click away.
Hasn't seen much use as of late however ... I've officially stopped downloading games and now support the companies that make my favorite games.
