Hey guys just watched the AC: Unity QL and that game looked fantastic on their pc set-up. Just to save me hunting down the specs on that GB East computer, does anyone have a quick run down at what they're running? I know they built it on cam but i don't have time right now to sit and watch them build the computer from scratch to see each component at a time. Thanks!

Vinny posted them in a thread a while back.

    • Video Card: GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB
    • CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K 4.0GHZ LGA 1150 w/ heatsink...
    • Motherboard: MSI Z97-GD65 Gaming LGA 1150 Intel Z97
    • RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 16GB
    • Case: Antec Three Hundred
    • Power Supply: SeaSonic X750 Gold
    • Boot Hard Drive: Intel 530 SERIES 480gb 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive
    • Extra Storage Hard Drive: Western Digital Black 1TB

My thoughts on it: You should get a 970 or 980 instead of the 780. Otherwise seems great other than the SSD being really expensive at that size.

I'd also switch out the 4790k for a 4690k and add an aftermarket CPU cooler like an NH-D14, unless you plan on doing video editing or something like that.

The Antec 300 is a bit small and dated as well, there are a lot of better options out there.

@corevi: Why are 980s the same price as 780ti cards?

@brandondryrock: They both launched at the same price but recently 780s have been getting price cuts.

@mb: Why would you switch the 4790k for the 4690k?

It's cheaper and if the most taxing thing you're doing with you PC is gaming, there will be a negligible difference.

You can also overclock it fairly easily if you shell out for an aftermarket cooler.

Looking at that makes me want to upgrade my aging 2500k. Gear lust is the worst.

GBeast needs to upgrade anyway, the 780 Ti is soooo dated now.

@philipduck: You won't notice a difference between 8 and 16GB of RAM if you're just gaming. If you are doing video editing then you should probably go with 16 though.

@corevi: I have a Nvidia 660 which i'm going to use, not great but will do the job? I'm just interested in my computer being capable of playing the odd game, i mainly play Starcraft 2 and play most games on the ps4 as friends are on there. Think this computer is decent for price? After i put my video card in? Thank you! Sorry for 100 questions!

@philipduck: That link doesn't work but from what I can parse from the URL it's overkill. If all you want to do is play Starcraft 2 then you could just get a laptop and call it a day.
