originally bought it in april 2009 , but then i had a radeon 4890 which i got up to 1 GHz. ( first graphics card that was capable of it without liquid helium )
bought the 5870 on launch day.
also had a audigy SE instead of the Xonar , and no SSD.
bought those this year.

lol i'll just leave it here =) Core 2 Duo E6550 + GF 8800GTS (a small one with 300+ mb)+ 2GB RAM + 1 half dead IDE HDD and 2 1TB ones. Dust included and i don't bother closing it in fact i lost a panel somewhere. as you can tell I'm a console gamer but witcher 2 runs on this BEAST normally on very low settings in 720p.

Cooler Master 850 PSU
HD6990 GPU
Asus Motherboard with a P67 chipset so either an i5 or i7 CPU
A Venom HSF
OCZ SSD drive
WD Green HDD
1x Optical drive
2 sticks of Corsair Vengeance ram
I have no idea what case that is!
Did I get any of those guesses right???
@theguy: I'm going to judge, nice rig. Should be good for BF3.
Mobo: Asus P6T
CPU: Intel i7 920 (maybe gonna overclock it...just a little spooked by the process, would appreciate any advice if anyone wants to give it)

SSD: 64 GB
@theguy: While Alienware generally over charges, that's a nice rig, similar to mine, although I do wonder why the fuck you have liquid cooling...
Intel dual core T5550 1.83ghz with GMA 950 integrated graphics, 2gb ram, Windows 7, media keys that don't have drivers, a Bluetooth button but no Bluetooth, and Wifi 802 point something. With a screen that is 1280*800 and I don't know how many inches that is on. It's a laptop, and the battery hasn't worked for over two years but there's no point replacing the battery as the computer hardware is too power-inefficient. Also, it's plastic white because in 2008 when I was 16 I liked the look of the plastic macbooks, but it's not a macbook it's an acer. Despite the list of shame this laptop has been wonderful, and I put in a new 250gb HDD in January. It runs San Andreas at max everything. Also, it does support 64bit but it came with a 32bit version of Vista so I thought it was only 32bit and put that version of Windows 7 on it. The thing that bothers me most is the file browser performance in Windows, which is instant on my 64bit install of Ubuntu. But I'm upgrading soon coz' I want a proper PC for productivity and entertainment.

Built this 2 years back and it's still going well. Planning on getting new case and Mobo soon to accommodate even newer plans.
Good to know you are getting most out of your older hardware. I think that is one big advantage of PC gaming. You make stuff work even on older hardware.Intel dual core T5550 1.83ghz with GMA 950 integrated graphics, 2gb ram, Windows 7, media keys that don't have drivers, a Bluetooth button but no Bluetooth, and Wifi 802 point something. The upgraded PC will blow you away though!
DeathAdder had a very solid feel, and great when playing shooters.

I love this thing to death. So far I've been able to max out every single game I've thrown at it @ 60 FPS+, Witcher 2, Bad Company, ME2, Dead Space 2, New Vegas. I know it won't last long, so I'm enjoying it while I still can. :)
Been using this one for almost 2.5 years.
If the GPU wasn't so loud and warm, I think this could last 2.5 more years.

Antec Twelve Hundred Gaming Case Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP 24" 1920x1200
I built this PC in May 2009 and it's still running like a beast. I plan on upgrading the GPU within the next few months to a 6970 or 6990 for BF3 and Skyrim. Anyone know when the best time would be to pick one up? Don't new card usually drop in October? I'm hoping the prices will go down on those then.

I know it sucks. :(
Q9400, 4GB RAM, 8800GT.
Nothing fancy, but gets the job done. It's been almost 4 years since I got my 8800GT, and despite that it's handling things pretty well. I've been itching to upgrade but I just couldn't justify it with no games really giving me a tough time running well, but I might finally give in and upgrade it later this year for BF3 and DX11. Maybe an HD 6950 or a GTX 570, or whatever else there is at the time. We'll see.
In the process of upgrading my PC.
Motherboard: Nvidia nforce 780i.
CPU: Intel Pentium Quad Core Q6600 2.4 GHZ
GPU: Nvidia 580gtx.
RAM: 8GB ddr3 1600 mhz memory
Hard Drive: 500 Gb slow ass Western digital hard drive.
Obviously I still have my CPU and hard drive left to upgrade before being done and then I think I can run BF3 with reasonable settings, which is really the main goal with this upgrade.
Also if anyone have any reasonable suggestions for a pretty powerful CPU i'd appreciate it.
So its been a few weeks I did this but anyway, a "minor" comp upgrade:
- New Case, Fractal Design R3 XL Titanium. Best case I've ever owned (previous owner of the HAF 932)
- New PSU, Seasonic Gold 750W
- New CPU cooler, Corsair H60, best price/performance no-maintenance liquid cooling.
- Planar SA2311W 120Hz 3D Monitor, 1920x1080
As for the 3D, it's simply incredible. It works perfectly on games that are built with it in mind, as well as older games that came out ages ago, that are now playable in a whole new light. Batman simply looks stunning in 3D, as well as BFBC2.
Hardware that I've had for a while:
- Astro A40 with Mixamp, dual optical (dolby digital/headphone) link with Xbox and PC
- 5TB total storage
- HT Omega Claro Halo DH/DDL Sound Card
- Microsoft X4 Keyboard, Logitech G500 Mouse
- TrackIR 5 Head Tracking
- 50Mbps connection
- Corei7 920 overclocked to 3.6Ghz
- ASUS P6T Motherboard
- EVGAGTX 570 superclocked
- 12GB DDR3 RAM

Yet another update! When will it stop?
I was planning to change over to an i7 based rig, however certain things conspired against that and I somehow ended up with a new AMD motherboard (don't ask how!) as an exchange for the 1 I already had, also changed my case and added some lights:
| Component | Product Name and Manufacturer |
|---|---|
| CPU | AMD Phenom ii X4 965 (3.4ghz Quad core - OC'd to 3.91ghz) |

| HDD | 2x 1tb Seagate Barracuda configured in RAID 0 |
| Optical Drive | TSST Corp CD/DVDW TS-H635L ATA Drive |
| PSU | OCZ 750watt Fatal1ty Semi-Modular |
| Case | Silverstone Raven RV03 + 2x Cold cathodes in Red |

I suppose i should post my fairly new rig here then.

Not top of the line by any means but it has served me well for a couple years. I'm doing a major upgrade in the fall.
I'm looking to begin building a PC. I'm just looking for input from people with more experience than myself when it comes to building gaming PCs. What I'm looking to get is as follows:
Intel i5 2500K
GeForce GTX 560
4 gigs of DDR3 1333 (starting off but eventually will have 8 gigs.)
650W power supply (already own it)
That's what I'm looking to put into it. I'm not sure on the mobo just yet. Will take suggestions but I'm not looking to spend more than $220 per part. I'm just looking for something that I can play games on now and in the near future. Thanks.
that looks like a nice set up but I can't help you with the mobo since I've always been an AMD kinda guy.

I just recently replaced my old system of approximately 4 years, a core 2 duo E6420, 8800GTX, etc, with the following:

I'mma upgrade fairly soon, but as long as I can run new shit in 1080p on high settings, why bother.
