my pc has Vista pre-loaded but I wish I could go back to XP, Vista uses up a gig of ram without anything open

So do u use XP or Vista?
I used to dual boot Vista and XP but I've finally stepped foward to Vista only. All the incompatibilities have since been patched so all my old games work on Vista.
Vista, and yeah it is a pain that it almost uses a gig of RAM (mine is 30% usage idle with 2GB). I bet Windows 7 will use almost the same amount of RAM though.

Its becasue Vista does a lot more than XP out-of-the-box and the whole point of Windows 7 is to cut the fat that Vista has. Altough i have no issues with Vista SP1.
Vista.
As for vista using that ram, turn off all the extra stuff specially the super fetch service which loads nearly all commonly used programs into ram.
"Vista SP1 on one machine and XP on another, I've had no issues with Vista SP1 and am just as satisfied with it as XP. "Ditto.
XP Pro 32 bit - it castrates a gig of my RAM but I'd still rather it than Vista.

Console gamer or are you just really into ET:QW and ported/open source games?
