I'm always iffy and hesitant to download Service Packs for Windows OSs until I know whether or not they are worth it, and I have heard a few negative things about SP2 for Vista. But I want level headed opinions, so no replies from any fanboys of Microsoft or LINUX or Apple please.

Also my OS is Vista 64-bit Home Edition

Eh downloading service packs is always a good idea in my opinion, I doubt it will be as big a deal as SP1 (normally when most of the worst problems are dealt with).  Go for it, can't hurt.

I always download windows updates, especially service packs.  I'm using windows 7 now so I can't tell you about it from personal experience, but I'd say fire away

I downloaded Service Pack 2 when I used Vista. As well as SP1. And with both of them, I never noticed any difference in my performance. Maybe it's due to the fact I modified my Vista install with themes and stuff? I'd download it if I were you, seeing as Service Packs do increase your machine's security and stuff, from what I know.

Absolutely download but get Win7 asap. Better in every way.
