Would I have any trouble running Diablo 2 on a new(ish) machine?

    Hey all,

I saw diablo 2 the other day and thought about picking it up, but I'm not sure if it run properly on my PC. I've had issues with older games not working properly and I wondered if this might be one of them. My PC is almost two years old now by the way.

It's workin' great. The patches make the game work on Windows 7. Or so I've heard, never had any problems myself.

Confirmed. It works fine. You'll be shocked by the graphics however.

I was running it on my XP machine recently.  It ran great but made me really wonder if I want to play Diablo 3.

you shouldn't have any problems, the only problem is that it's a 640x480 game and i think the expansion upped that to 800x600.  If you got a high resolution monitor it might look stretched and pixelated.

I wouldn't play it.  From all I have read D3 is shaping up to be a pretty looking Diablo.  Play D1 and D2 now and you could well burn yourself out on the gameplay.  Click, Click, Click, Click.

    Your logic is awful.

Play diablo 2 if you haven't already, its a classic. Maybe try Torchlight or Titan Quest if you cant get D2 to run, they are newer.

When you install it, you'll need to get a patch. just Google it, no problem. It'll work fine on any machine, Blizzard makes sure of it.

If you're using Win7 you need to run in compatibility mode to get it to properly run. If WinXP then you will have no problems.

Agreed, if you want to relive the magic, play Titan Quest instead. The game is absolutely brilliant and in structure is very very similar to DIablo II (where Torchlight is similar to Diablo 1) but with one of the most brilliant class/skill systems of any game.

You should definitely play it, it's a classic, still the best in it's genre and a lot of fun to play.

The graphics are a bit aged and some of the multiplayer mechanics are a pain (the way the experience is shared) but you shouldn't have any trouble with it.
