Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness - Episode One
Game » consists of 6 releases. Released May 21, 2008
On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness is an adventure-oriented role-playing game from the creators of Penny Arcade, a gaming-themed online comic strip.
Penny Arcade Episode 3 Probably Still Not Happening
On Monday, Hothead had to pull a tweet that promised it would put the cancelled third game in the Penny Arcade Adventures series back on the frontburner if sales hit a high enough mark on the recently launched Mac App Store. "For those of you that want PA Episode 3, all you need to do is get 100,000 of your friends to buy 1 & 2. Seriously. Do that and we'll make it,” the Hothead Games tweet read.
Following up with the tweet, PA's own Mike Krahulikresponded with “that’s actually not true.” In a conversation with Joystiq, PA business guy Robert Khoo said "that's certainly news to me,” before adding that there is no new news to be written about future episodes.
The PA guys haven't completely ruled out a third episode, by the way, but the time for it has arguably passed. Can you believe the second episode hit in 2008? Time flies!

bummer that that is the case... I enjoyed the short series, despite its drab combat and feeling like there was not a lot of replayability.
" Hmmm shame. edit: This is actually my third first haha "Nice dawg. At least you didn't delete it. :P
I'm pissed that they made TWO, not just one, but TWO episodes and they throw off making a third. Seriously guys make it so I can buy the games in a bundle which is what most people are gonna do.
" Ah... The illusive third episode. Shenmue and now this. "Don't forget the Episode Three. I'm seeing a pattern here.
I'd rather Hothead make another Penny Arcade than more Deathspank, but I know the PA guys wouldn't be up for it.
Err, I'm almost certain Jerry did say it was done and that was why he put the remainder of the story up for people to read because the third one was nixed. Seems like it was Hothead that maybe didn't realize they were done with the game-making process.
I just S-Ranked both of these over the weekend and was lamenting the fact that there wouldn't be anymore. Quality games without a doubt, funny, pretty good story, and for a turn based RPG very fun and challenging combat (the block timing for a lot of moves is a pain in the ass).
actually there's nineteen 'chapters' up right now." It was obviously a sarcastic joke on the fact that no amount of sales could get the third game to be in the works again.
Tycho's already writing Part Three... as a book. He releases chapters periodically, so there's little to no chance of a game, as (for obvious reasons) the current version of Chapter Three doesn't feature the player character. Clearly, Hothead didn't know this, and probably made some PC owners of the games frantically repurchase them for hopes of a sequel. Nice job, guys.
I'd rather Telltale make Episode 3, because the best part of the PA games was Jerry writing them, and DeathSpank was just facepalmy.
Idiots shouldn't have charged $20 for the first game. That turned tons of people off. Even though Episode 2 was released for $15, they didn't cut Episode 1. No one wants to buy Episode 2 without the first one.
I'm glad consumers finally decided to speak with their dollars on this one. Now if only they'd stop bending over for the Call of Duty map packs...
The Penny Arcade games were pretty good, although the first one was perhaps a tad overpriced at the full $20. In any case, people are suckers.
After I lost my copy of episode 1 when my last computer broke (even though I'd finished it) I sort of lost interest in the series anyway.
" BS!!! I wanted Episode 3, but instead we got two DeathSpank games. "You mean a DeathSpank game, amirite or amirite? (seriously, those "two" were essentially the same game).
It's a shame that Episode 3 isn't coming out. I really liked the first episode, and would definitely buy the rest of the series came out.
Here's today's news.
Something that was promised to not happen, is still not going to happen.
This concludes the news for today.
On a serious note, PS3/360 or PC for this game? I haven't play it yet and want to know the best version of this game.
Always nice to see that small indie companies are capable of pulling BS sales stunts as well. Sorry to anyone who bought this and believed their "joke."
