Overview
Perfect Gold is a visual novel based in the magical fictional city of Castlecoast, a city that was founded by the great wealth of alchemists. It follows two students of the nearby magical academy of LaFey: Audrey Clary, an alchemy prodigy and daughter of a prestigious family who longs to escape her current life trajectory; and Marion LaRue, a transfer student from the boonies with a talent for fire elemental magic who has felt lost and alienated by the big city and saddened by a strained relationship with her celebrity sister. The two students were once close but had a falling out a year ago, and are now plotting to escape a stint in detention that their bickering caused in order to attend the annual Sunflower Festival.
The game alternates between Audrey and Marion as the viewpoint character each chapter and offers occasional multiple choice prompts that don't affect the story but will affect the relationship between the two characters, leading to slightly different endings. The game is fully voice-acted and scored, and features around 30,000 words across two or three hours of runtime.
