Big Daddies are the lumbering genetically modified behemoths in the underwater city of Rapture. Clad in garish diving suits, these monstrosities were created to protect Rapture's population of walking ADAM factories, the Little Sisters.
Corpses disappear immediately or after a short delay. Often done to help maintain game performance, especially when physics are involved.

Most difficult to kill non-boss enemy type in Quake. Attacks with a ferocious melee attack in addition to a ranged lighting bolt. Takes half damage from rockets and grenades.
This was originally the boss of Doom's Episode 3. It's a huge spider brain that shoots a machine gun at the player.
Once the intelligent and prosperous citizens of Rapture, these twisted beings have since paid the price of abusing the gene-altering substance ADAM.
A two-dimensional image or animation overlaid into a scene. The foundation of early 2D games, making up everything from props to the player-controlled character.
Also known as the Universal Union, the Combine is a trans-dimensional empire comprised of enslaved species spanning an unknown number of universes, and Earth is their latest annexation.
The Undead is an umbrella term describing creatures that do not exhibit the key fundamental attributes that are associated with life, such as respiration, and blood circulation. They are divided into two main categories: Ethereal and Corporeal, depending on whether or not they have a body.
The Vex are a cyber-organic species in the Destiny universe, consisting of microscopic organisms suspended in liquid radiolaria that dwell inside robotic frames. The Vex are capable of advanced data processing, time travel, portal creation, and remarkable feats of engineering, but possess no sentience whatsoever.
