I don't understand. A lot of this stuff seems to clash with arena, so which one is canon?

Don't spoil Persona 4 Golden/Persona 4 Golden Spoiler Thread
Arena is two months after the final boss of P4, the new ending sequence of P4G is one year after that during a summer break. At least that's what I think is going on.
Aw, that doesn't mean she's necessarily his canon girlfriend, though. Even if that scene isn't a result of the player boning Marie, its pretty easy to interpret that as one-sided affection.@mutha3: She confesses her love (daisuki) for Yu on live TV and then Dojima makes fun of Yu. Also Rise gets fucking pissed
I would have greatly enjoyed the shitstorm that would have caused...alas. Is there any word on when that epilogue sequence takes place anyway?
After the first three things I saw from that novel being Naoto fanservice, I don't think Persona X Detective deserves any pity.
Naoto is a couple weeks away from being 17 at the end of P4. Hell, she is 17 in P4 Arena. If that P4G epilogue takes place in the summer, a year after P4 like you said, she'd be 18 there as well.@mutha3: Persona x Detective takes place two years after the end of the game. As Naoto is 18 in it

WARNING: SUNSHINE AND RAINBOWS AHEAD
Summary of P4G ending:
It's just Namatame being a good guy and rallying the town to work together for a better future. They couldn't convict him because of the weak evidence (just one notebook of names) and he lost the ability to enter TVs, so he couldn't demonstrate his mode of action to the police. Rumor has it now that he'll try to run for town leadership.
Meanwhile Junes is collaborating with the old shops of the town to promote artisan and traditional goods to bring business back to them.
The case is closed to Dojima at this point and he isn't dwelling on Namatame anymore. He reiterates that Namatame couldn't be convicted on the lack of evidence, despite how much Namatame insisted he needs punishment. In the end, he told Namatame to think for himself about what he can do to atone for his sins. Dojima is still on his wife, Dojima Chisato's, case.
Nanako started taking piano lessons because she remembered her mom used to play it.
Mari debuts as a weather forecaster, Kusumi Mariko, and uses the public airwaves to confess to MC.
At the end, the group says "Welcome Home". Making Charlie smile for the 1st time in the game.
Someone's translating the ending, Yosuke says this during it : Hanamura Yosuke: Look...plenty of things happened during those May vacation days, so we couldn't relax at all, remember?
So yeah the ending happens after Arena, no continuity plot holes here.
@Bocam: Now all we need is an anime cutscene where he waves you off at the train station. Ahhh, Atlus, I am torn. That is the most horrible, evil thing. Stop making this so difficult.
So... any idea what happens if you get that far, and then decide not to go through with it?
edit: Oh wow, it seems like there actually is a new cutscene after the credits.
And, Halloween costumes.
I think it's a change during the port island visit, since the P3 school uniform is a costume you can get, so they probably let you go around port island some for a day.
Found this.

Adachi: Ah, it’s you. You seem pretty free, huh~
Are you studying hard? It’s no good if a student doesn’t study.
I can look your assignments over if you want.
> It seems Adachi is returning from work…
> Your bond with Adachi seems to be deepening…
> Will you show Adachi your studies?
Brotag: -Show him
Adachi: Are you the type not to get jokes?
I’ve already forgotten what I learned in highschool.
Ah… But you’ve already eaten, right?
Oh well, it’s just for today.
>You headed back to the Dojima Residence with Adachi…
…
>Dojima Residence Living Room
Adachi: Ah~ Studies, right?
But your assignment seems long. That sucks…
It’s fine if it’s Nanako-chan’s though~
Nanako: Mine is okay?
You see, I have homework! A reflection!
Adachi: Ah, a reading report?
If you understand what you’re doing, it’s actually fun.
If you just read the afterword, it’ll pull things together.
You don’t actually need to read the content.
Nanako: Why not?
The teacher said to read and write what you thought.
Adachi: It’s fine, it’s fine.
You can do that from just the main points.
Brotag: -Definitely
Adachi: Haha, you agree?
You’re a bad big brother huh~
>Adachi is laughing pleasantly
Nanako: Is big brother a bad person?
Adachi: Hey, Nanako-chan. Could you bring me the book?
…
Nanako: It wasn’t a reflection!
Uhm, it says to read.
Read and get a stamp*.
Adachi: Is that so.
That’s good, it’s easy.
So, a stamp?
Ah… Dojima sure is late today.
Nanako: Mr Adachi, could you use your stamp?
Adachi: Huh, me?
… Sure, if it’s good I’ll give you the Hanamaru**
Nanako: I want the Hanamaru!
Adachi: Haha, well let’s get started!
Nanako: In a deep, deep forest
next to a thin, thin river
a pink alligator lived…
> Nanako is trying her hardest to read…
Nanako: No one remembered the pink alligator.
Nevertheless, the lake sparkles brightly even today.
The end.
Adachi: Hm…?
Ah, it’s over?
Nanako: Do I get the Hanamaru?
Adachi: We~ll, I guess there’s no helping it. I’ll give you the Hanamaru!
Nanako: Yay~! The Hanamaru~!
Adachi: And what about you? You don’t have anything you want the Hanamaru for?
Brotag: -I don’t have anything.
Adachi: That’s not cute… Are you really Nanako-chan’s cousin?
Well, that’s fine… You look like you’re grown up but you’re really a highschooler right? If there’s anything you need, do you rely honestly on an adult?
I’m not saying to rely on me or anything.
> Adachi has shared his worries with you…
> You feel like you’ve come to understand Adachi a little bit more…
RANK UP!! » all that standard stuff, you can summon new persona etc
Adachi: Ahh, I’m tired… Is it okay if I catch a few Z’s?
The woman from the example brought in arranged marriage photos with her signature.***
Since she’s nice, I went to meet her… and ended up doing overtime. She said there’s no way we’ll marry.
Nanako: Is marriage bad?
Adachi: Marriage is life’s graveyard.
Nanako-chan, in about 20 years you’ll probably understand huh?
Speaking of which, the person Nanako-chan marries will have Dojima as their father-in-law.
Waa, that’s impossible~.
Marrying Nanako-chan is impossible~.
Brotag: -“Don’t listen to Adachi”
Adachi: Huh, but it’s impossible.
Sorry, Nanako-chan.
Nanako: Nanako is no good.
People with holes in their socks are no good!****
Adachi: I don’t have any~.
Nanako: One just opened!
~
* most Japanese people use stamps with their family name to sign documents instead of signatures (right? I think)
** flower-circle, like getting a gold star
*** reference to earlier event?
**** this is a saying but I forgot what it means ;; I’ll try to correct it when I figure it out sorry
Epilogue translation.
@Dybia: It's sad, though, especially when you know what Nanako's reading, and when you apply the roles...
In a deep, deep forest, next to a thin, thin river, there lived a pink alligator. He was so visible that he couldn’t hunt for food easily, and was always especially hungry. The other animals disliked him and considered his coloration disgusting, almost as if he was cursed. So, he started living alone.
But then he made a friend. His friend was a bird—but, a bird that was unable to fly. So the bird would stand on the pink alligator’s back and practice its flying. This was the alligator’s first friend, and he was very happy. They started going to the river every day, and the little bird would sing while the alligator listened.
But again, the alligator couldn’t catch food easily because of his color… Pink is such an odd color, his prey in the jungle saw him from far away and had plenty of time to escape. He became so hungry that he was dizzy most of the time…
…and he accidentally ate the bird one afternoon as it slept in his mouth. Of course, he realized his mistake immediately. He drank swamp water to induce vomiting, but the bird was already dead when he retrieved it. After that, he couldn’t bring himself to eat anything.
Since the alligator had eaten his friend the bird, he cried and cried for a very long time. In fact, he was so sad, that he drowned in his own tears. His tears became a beautiful lake, around which grew beautiful flowers and a tree with delicious fruit. The other animals in the forest came there often to relax, but, none of them knew the alligator had created it or that he was gone. No one remembered the pink alligator. Nevertheless, the lake sparkles brightly even today.
The End
Would it have killed them to give Teddie a human form status pic? And I guess cut-in for the all out attacks too.
And Ski Trip
Ehhh, doesn't really bug me. I mean, it is a hot springs scene. What else would you expect? Hell, at least they put steam/soap there.
@Phatmac: 15-17 year-olds, but the point stands. It's interesting, too, that some of the main themes of P4 are about new media stereotypes and how they can over-sexualize their subjects, give a false impression of someone's personality--in fact, watching the Midnight Channel is essentially voyeurism, on a very personal level.
So when P4A or P4G puts out content like this, I'm left with an Inception-like paradox, to be honest. Am I participating in the very thing this game discourages, by playing it? Or is the game aware of its contradictions, and is the test not to be impressed by the fanservice--is it a trap that you're meant to realize and contemplate?
Is P4G a Midnight Channel of its own, animating nude Naoto because that's what the audience wanted to see?
(Not that I'm really making a judgement, these are just some things that I'm thinking about.)
I'm not a fan of anime stuff so excuse me if you guys are fine with this stuff. Persona 4 to me is one of the first anime games that I actually like. I don't want to think about these anime girls who I consider friends in Persona 4 to be only shown as sex objects. I'm still not used to female anime characters being sexualized for creepy people, but maybe that's just me? Perhaps I'm not suppose to be their target audience yet I only liked it originally from the ER? Persona 4 didn't really sexualize their characters this much. Maybe I'm overreacting.
