Overview
Background
Ace Attorney is a series of adventure/visual novel games that center around the bizarre courtroom cases of defense attorney Phoenix Wright. They were originally released on the Game Boy Advance in Japan, but are better known in North America and Europe for their re-releases on the Nintendo DS and via WiiWare.
Release History
Comparison shotPhoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy originated in a compilation of the original trilogy of the Ace Attorney series (Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Justice For All, and Trials & Tribulations) ported to mobile devices (titled Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy HD), which was released in Japan on February 7th, 2012 (iOS and Android versions) and in the US on May 30th, 2013 (iOS version only). The compilation was later ported to numerous other systems – a version for Nintendo 3DS was released in 2014, and versions for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows followed in 2019.
Mobile Version Features
The mobile versions (iOS and Android) of the game feature higher definition art and the ability to play the game in horizontal mode in addition to vertical. A new social feature, "Everyone Object", allows players the ability to create .gif files of the Ace Attorney characters yelling "Objection", "Hold it" or "Take That" and post them to Twitter or send them via email.
The iOS version provides the first two cases in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney for free, with the remaining cases available for purchase; Justice for All and Trials and Tribulations can be purchased separately or all three games can be bought in a bundle.
