    Picross 3D? YES! 1

I've always loved puzzles.  Way back, in the beginning of time, I had to enjoy puzzles from these things called books and magazines.  It was a difficult time to be a puzzle fan.  No stylus (we had to use our fingers with a pencil...archaic!), no colorful graphics (just black...and...white, oh the joy!), and no cool sound effects (just the occasional "Dammit!" for having to erase the same space for the umpteenth time and leaving a hole where there was once paper.  No, the puzzle fans of old didn'...

Chip off the old block ... 1

This has been out in Europe for a while now and it's stayed firmly put in my DS since then. It is one of those classic games where you pick up for a quick puzzle or two and fall under it's spell again. Suddenly it is 2AM and you still want to finish a new section.   It does takes a while to get your head around the concept and navigate around the blocks. If you are used to the 2D versions, the third dimension is a lot trickier. Although it is the same basic mechanic (delete the zeroes, leave the...

    From painter to sculptor 0

Picross DS was a fantastic puzzler that presented a great, logic based puzzle game in a slick package that contained a ton of content. Picross 3D attempts to take that basic Picross formula and translate it to 3D, a move that I was initially a bit skeptical of. Fortunately, the risk has paid off, as Picross 3D is a great evolution of one of my favorite puzzle games, and is a great package for anyone with an appreciation for logic puzzles. For those not in the know, Picross is a logic game (simil...

    An Amazing Deal 0

Q:  How do you sculpt an elephant? A:  Easy, just carve away everything that doesn't look like an elephant.  Imagine taking that old adage and adapting the implied mechanic into a game. Picross 3D is a simple, but deep, logic/spatial reasoning puzzler that tasks you with chipping away unwanted bricks to reveal a hidden sculpture.  Numbers on the sides of a cube reveal how many blocks you need to remove; different marks let you know if the remaining blocks are grouped together or spaced into two,...

One of the Best Examples of a DS Game to Date. 0

Picross 3D is one of the few games that takes advantage of the system its on in an amazing way, and keeps me wanting more.  Game Play: The game play here is simple: destroy and paint blocks. These blocks belong to an initial bigger shape, and as you destroy and paint these blocks from the bigger shape, an object within the initial shape is relieved.  The final object is not fully relieved until you have destroyed all the blocks that do not belong to the object; numbers on the rows and columns of...

Best game, or best game ever? 2

What's great about Picross 3D is that it builds on what made Picross so great.  The first Picross made a great  game because you got a prize for solving the puzzles.  When you solve a sudoku puzzle you are left with a grid with a lot of numbers in random places.  It's not very satisfying.  When you solve a crossword puzzle you have a jumble of words on a page.  Also not every satisfying.  Only with the picross games do you get something for your troubles.  That brings us to Picross the James Cam...

    Break through! 0

The first time I encountered picross, was when I took a copy of Picross DS away with me on holiday three years ago. I found myself huddled away from the sun playing it for nearly the entire trip, much to my parents anger. I continued to play Picross DS until the day I finished every puzzle, which was three years later. When I heard that Picross was being made into a 3D puzzler, I was immediately intrigued as to how they would pull it off. I was also quite worried that it wouldn't live up to my...

Picross 3D is simple by design but pure puzzling perfection. 0

Nintendo has a knack for creating simple yet absolutely addictive puzzle games. The original Picross on the DS was a clever play on Sudoku-style grid puzzling, with the added twist of pictures being produced by eliminating squares. Removing squares on the grid is based on a logical elimination based on numbers marking the rows and columns. For example, if a row of 5 squares has a number 5 attached to the end, then all 5 are safe and nothing is taken out. If the row were marked with a 3 then, nat...

The Addiction you can not put down. 0

Okay you can put it down after becoming frustrated getting game over. Alright you are gonna sit here, think this puzzle out and get a perfect score. Here we go, 080000444000444800440048 Okay just take out the zeros. Now the 8, theres 10 in this row. Which side...... LEFT RIGHT!!!!! I AM GONNA PICK...... LEFT... MISS!!!! :'[Picross 3-D is an addicting puzzle game in which you destroy number blocks to reveal the object. If the row has a zero, you destroy that whole row. If it were to have a one, t...

    Magical. 0

In Picross 3D you play the role of an omniscient paleontologist who is presented with many mysterious stone cubes. These stone cubes are like living puzzles that require careful observation and investigation with the DS's stylus. The stylus is like a sculpting tool allowing you to chip away at the stone, voxel by voxel, until you have created a unique form that pops out like a living fossil! It could be anything...A comfy bed, a rocking horse, a coffee grinder; there are literally hundreds of ...
